I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Tech has an excellent reputation and is highly ranked among academic institutions. Colleagues and students are intelligent and easy to work with. The President is an exceptional leader who is very approachable. The campus is beautiful, has plenty of amenities, is constantly being improved and is an energetic environment to be in. Work/Life balance is excellent.

    Cons

Crime is an issue for urban campuses. The faculty and student body could be more ethnically diverse. Compensation provided by state institutions is not aligned with performance.

I have been working at Georgia Tech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Helpful approachable faculty means you can get the expertise you need. Two cleanrooms and numerous other user facilities means you have all the equipment get your work done.

    Cons

Some lab groups can be like fiefdoms... generally best to contact a grad student in the group and have them ask their advisor on your behalf.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the user facilities. The cleanrooms and other equipment (SEM, TEM, SIMS) are a very valuable to researchers and grad students. They make it possible for groups to do experiments that they would otherwise not be able to do.

I worked at Georgia Tech part-time for less than a year

    Pros

As an All Kids Count tutor, you are told upfront and reminded over and over that it is all about the kids, which I found very reassuring since I'm so used to tutoring gigs being more about just an 'easy' after school job.
You create your own schedule and are paid higher than other tutors on campus.

    Cons

There really weren't any cons. I loved it!
