    Pros

I work at the Giant Eagle Market district in the deli department. It is a big corporate store with many employees. It is a good job because of the fast paced environment and nice co workers. There is no shortage of work here because there is always something to do and it really makes the day fly by. Customers are nice for the most part, there are a lot of regular customers that stop in, and it makes for a nice experience.

    Cons

Management can sometimes be a pain. You may be working on one thing, and immediately asked to do something else. Always expect to be working, standing around is not tolerated here.

    Advice to Management

Be more considerate to employees. When we are hard at work at one task, don't tell us to do something else right away. We will get to it after we are done with the current job.

    Pros

Easy going people to work with. Flexible work schedules and good supervisors.

    Cons

Upper management and the corporate office have no idea what goes on in the store day to day. They have unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

The regional leaders and above need to run a store themselves in this economy and this work environment and learn a few things. I do not care if they ran a store 10+ years ago, that is not the same as now.

    Pros

I received a couple of raises while working at Giant Eagle and got to make many friends with all of my coworkers. It was an enjoyable experience.

    Cons

The cons that I had were probably dealing with the management and atmosphere. The higher up people were not friendly and never really helped out, and maybe this is just my store, but it was jam-packed 24/7.

    Advice to Management

Listen and be there for your employees.

    Pros

The management works with employees to find the best roles for them to succeed. They often promote in-house, and care about the work the company does. They are very flexible with employees schedules, and have been setting up more time for employees to work from home. Certain department heads really show their appreciation for their employees, especially when they go above and beyond.

    Cons

Benefits and labor force have gone up and down over the last decade, mostly reflecting the broader economy. The pay isn't superb.

    Advice to Management

The surprise layoffs cause some underlying resentment in employees.
