    VERY busy, but not boring...

Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) Columbus, OH

ProsGreat job for anyone considering any career in the medical field. You quickly learn prescription language, insurance policies, drug names, etc. Fairly flexible schedule and hours. Ability to pick up extra hours if desired. Pharmacy managers are pharmacists and most have been fair, knowledgable, and willing to teach technicians.

ConsThe pharmacy is SO busy. Customers expect the same "rules" that apply in the grocery store apply in the pharmacy. Customers can be frustrating. They think the drive-thru should fill prescriptions as quickly as McDonalds makes cheeseburgers...
Also, they offer tuition assistance after you work there for one year which is great, but when I applied after a year they denied me due to "budget cuts." This was the ultimately my reason for leaving...

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the stipulations for tuition assistance clearer from the beginning so that employees counting on that assistance are not let down when it is denied.

ConsManagers needs to be more considerate to their junior employees.

    Love hate relationshop

Stock Clerk (Former Employee) Baden, PA

ProsGood hours, good people, decent pay for a part time job. Overall I didn't mind going to work which says a lot for my first job, I think. I actually really liked my bosses and they were understanding and easy to get along with.

ConsWeird scheduling, boring work sometimes. The job itself could be mundane and boring but the hours weren't too long so it was nothing unbearable.

Advice to Senior Managementmore room for advancement!

    Love it, hours suck.

File Maintenance Clerk (Current Employee) Warren, OH

ProsI love my department manager as well as the store owner and store manager. Very flexible as well as good pay..(if you get enough hours) They are flexible and understanding with late's and call-offs. i don't know if that was just my department or the whole store. i earned a weeks paid vacation in just 90 days. They also have opportunities for benefits which i haven't needed. i also love the 10 percent off giant eagle brand products that comes with being an employee! Getting paid weekly also helps alot.

ConsThere is little room to grow and advance in my department. (file maintenance) The other departments managers and my fellow co workers are mostly young women, enough said. ALOT of petty drama but nothing that cant be taken care of.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would really look into giving more hours to stores to give the employees.

Good starting job but not a long term position

Fuel Station Attendant (Current Employee) Pittsburgh, PA

ProsStraightforward, empowering workplace. Great 401K and pension plan. Managers, in general, feel more like friends than bosses. It's very hard to get fired. Flexible schedule.

ConsLack of major promotion potential. Disproportionate work ethic between employees. Corporate communication between stores is lacking.
