I worked at Givaudan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The only pros are the cafeteria, decent coffee and good benefits. These pros, however, do not even begin to outweigh the cons.

    Cons

Where can I start? The management (and HR) is extremely corrupt and the building consists of the worst office politics I have seen anywhere. The training is nonexistent and most of the people within the company are there to bring you down, not build you up (Asking for help is a sign of weakness). Run as fast as you can from this company!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in proper training and take some courses on how to be a proper manager.

I worked at Givaudan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This was a good place to work back in the day...no longer the case. Upper Mgmnt (Dept Mgrs as well as HR) does not demonstrate leadership, and comes across as demeaning 80% of time. They are nice 20% of time only when they want something from you.

    Cons

Demeaning leadership, favortism, HR is not receptive and not approachable (corporate and plant). Lack of interdepartment communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees, as they work very long hours and are not acknowledged for their dedication.

I worked at Givaudan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The cons make any pro non-existent.

    Cons

Management is abusive & smokes in their offices. There is no growth here, at any level. HR is corrupt. I have worked in many industries and companies over the past 15 years and this is by far the most unethical and emotionally draining place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of NAFF management and invest in your staff!

    Pros

they pay above market and plenty of overtime if you want it

    Cons

lack communications with employees, expose you to chemicals that can cause you health issues. Management is inconsiderate. Discrimination is rampant. no promotion process. Horrible raises. lack any training program. Unsafe work place. Don't play by the rules. Cheat on audits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Givaudan

    Pros

The company is profitable year after year. This is beneficial to those at the top. Otherwise there is no incentive to working hard.

    Cons

Employees had to work off the clock and not get paid in the summer.
Headcount is too low while employees are overworked.
    No work/life balance.
    Poor communication within the company.
Impotent HR controlled by upper management that allows people with power to wield it unchecked.
No formal training of new employees or uniform protocols. Leads to everyone doing everything differently.
Employees were required to come to work right after Hurricane Sandy on Oct 31 even though most live outside the city, public transportation was not operating and many did not have power at home.
There is a total lack of humanity and respect for employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have HR professionals that focus on the employees' best interests and learn what employees' actual work loads are instead of eating and smoking all day.
    Treat employees like human beings.

I have been working at Givaudan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Competitive Pay, fresh coffee readily available-- and that is about it!

    Cons

The culrture is one of complacency and entitlement; manufacturing and operations are stuck in the 1950's and the safety issues are frightening. The revolving door of managers will make you dizzy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the people and invest in the plants. Failure to do so will bite you in the end. Key customers like Coke, Pepsi, Kraft, Unilever, and General Mills will go elsewhere (as supervisors, managers, and executives are) if you don't invest in people and processes in N. America.

    Pros

I can't think of any. I guess it is a job and you make a lot more money because of all of the OT

    Cons

pay, hours, no advancement possibilities, Managers do not listen, A lot of yelling and very unprofessional work environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to keep your employees, you need to at least act as if you respect them and give them at least the illusion they are part of a team. Don't work the emloyees to death. Besides never having any time off, the cost of overtime is unbelievable.

a stable company with decent benefits but who knows any more with sap or should i say stop all production

    Cons

if you are not one of the favorites you will not get promoted they say they are taking someone with more seniority or they will hire a temp.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get a decent management that wil listen to the people that live this seven days a week instead of pointing fingers

    I worked at Givaudan

    Pros

Very good benefits package. Optional summer hours where you work an extra hour M-Th and you can leave at noon on Friday. A good job for someone who's very organized, a quick learner and motivated but who also doesn't have grand desires to move up the corporate ladder. A good fit for those who are deadline-oriented in a fast-paced setting and can adjust to plan changes on short notice.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for people to move up the ranks. Demands from managment are often confusing/conflicting making for a frustrating environment. Very poor in recognition and offering positive feedback. Management often treats subordinates very disrespectfully. Still seems to be animosity with employees from another company (Quest) they recently purchased--somewhat cliquey. Communication between different internal groups can be very poor. General atmosphere feels negative, like everyone is stressed out all the time. Being a Swiss-based global company, there is frequent interaction with co-workers from many other countries/backgrounds which can be the cause for a lot of misunderstandings, confusion, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't know what kind of management training supervisors get, but some kind of general guidance needs to be taught. Higher-ups didn't seem to care or proactively get involved when there are known conflicts among those below them. Subgroups seem very segmented and tend to be reluctant to actually work with one another.
