    Unstable work environment

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsThis was a good place to work back in the day...no longer the case. Upper Mgmnt (Dept Mgrs as well as HR) does not demonstrate leadership, and comes across as demeaning 80% of time. They are nice 20% of time only when they want something from you.

ConsDemeaning leadership, favortism, HR is not receptive and not approachable (corporate and plant). Lack of interdepartment communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your employees, as they work very long hours and are not acknowledged for their dedication.

Run dont walk...away from this place.

Sales (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe cons make any pro non-existent.

ConsManagement is abusive & smokes in their offices. There is no growth here, at any level. HR is corrupt. I have worked in many industries and companies over the past 15 years and this is by far the most unethical and emotionally draining place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of NAFF management and invest in your staff!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

treated like dirt, no promotion, can't make mistake or they fire you.

Compounder (Former Employee) East Hanover, NJ

Prosthey pay above market and plenty of overtime if you want it

Conslack communications with employees, expose you to chemicals that can cause you health issues. Management is inconsiderate. Discrimination is rampant. no promotion process. Horrible raises. lack any training program. Unsafe work place. Don't play by the rules. Cheat on audits.

Advice to Senior Managementstart over fire them all and get a real management staff

    No respect for employees

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe company is profitable year after year. This is beneficial to those at the top. Otherwise there is no incentive to working hard.

ConsEmployees had to work off the clock and not get paid in the summer.
Headcount is too low while employees are overworked.
    No work/life balance.
    Poor communication within the company.
Impotent HR controlled by upper management that allows people with power to wield it unchecked.
No formal training of new employees or uniform protocols. Leads to everyone doing everything differently.
Employees were required to come to work right after Hurricane Sandy on Oct 31 even though most live outside the city, public transportation was not operating and many did not have power at home.
There is a total lack of humanity and respect for employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave HR professionals that focus on the employees' best interests and learn what employees' actual work loads are instead of eating and smoking all day.
    Treat employees like human beings.

Frightening Safety Issues & What Values? Just Get the Sale!

    Operations (Current Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsCompetitive Pay, fresh coffee readily available-- and that is about it!

ConsThe culrture is one of complacency and entitlement; manufacturing and operations are stuck in the 1950's and the safety issues are frightening. The revolving door of managers will make you dizzy.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in the people and invest in the plants. Failure to do so will bite you in the end. Key customers like Coke, Pepsi, Kraft, Unilever, and General Mills will go elsewhere (as supervisors, managers, and executives are) if you don't invest in people and processes in N. America.

Disorganized, so political they can't get anything done, demeaning to women

Group Leader (Former Employee) Florence, KY

ProsI can't think of any. I guess it is a job and you make a lot more money because of all of the OT

Conspay, hours, no advancement possibilities, Managers do not listen, A lot of yelling and very unprofessional work environment

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want to keep your employees, you need to at least act as if you respect them and give them at least the illusion they are part of a team. Don't work the emloyees to death. Besides never having any time off, the cost of overtime is unbelievable.

Can be a good job if you work for the right person and have the right personality.

Flavour Scientist (Former Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsVery good benefits package. Optional summer hours where you work an extra hour M-Th and you can leave at noon on Friday. A good job for someone who's very organized, a quick learner and motivated but who also doesn't have grand desires to move up the corporate ladder. A good fit for those who are deadline-oriented in a fast-paced setting and can adjust to plan changes on short notice.

ConsNot many opportunities for people to move up the ranks. Demands from managment are often confusing/conflicting making for a frustrating environment. Very poor in recognition and offering positive feedback. Management often treats subordinates very disrespectfully. Still seems to be animosity with employees from another company (Quest) they recently purchased--somewhat cliquey. Communication between different internal groups can be very poor. General atmosphere feels negative, like everyone is stressed out all the time. Being a Swiss-based global company, there is frequent interaction with co-workers from many other countries/backgrounds which can be the cause for a lot of misunderstandings, confusion, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementI don't know what kind of management training supervisors get, but some kind of general guidance needs to be taught. Higher-ups didn't seem to care or proactively get involved when there are known conflicts among those below them. Subgroups seem very segmented and tend to be reluctant to actually work with one another.
