    Pros

    GlaxoSmithKline has a good portfolio

    Cons

Senior leadership strategy led to significant downfall in company. This has also been reported in the news as my opinion maybe bias. Company needs major restructuring of senior leadership otherwise the problems will remain.

    Pros

Good pay and decent benefits; location in Research Triangle Park is very nice but future of this site is uncertain.

    Cons

No clear and consistent strategy; talk of 'science' but no resources to back it up; very odd and fragmented culture; excessive focus on pubic image

    Advice to Management

Recognize that employees are your greatest asset

    Pros

Good company name and that's about it.

    Cons

Don't believe because of the name of the company that this is a good place to work, IT IS NOT! Management sucks, they put money before consumers, not a stable company since UK took over, no job/career stability, too much politics for the favorites, racially prejudice

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like money and go back to treating people like people.

    Pros

    Good benefits. Pay is ok.

    Cons

Shifts are long, and change every day. No time to rest between shifts. No job security. Office politics are disgraceful. Disrespectful employees are rewarded, while hard-working employees are terminated.

    Advice to Management

Reward the employees that keep the company running, and get rid of the dishonest, disrespectful employees.

    Pros

When things are going well, an OK company. Salaries, bonuses within range of industry averages.

    Cons

Things are rarely "going well" at GSK. They have elevated re-organizations, downsizings, layoffs and RIFs to an art form. People literally go from month to month wondering when their group will be the next one "hit". The political BS is stifling - people are promoted and advanced, not on skill set or capabilities, but on who they know and how they are connected. Worked with someone who was completely clueless and had only 1 from a list of 15 job requirements who was promoted to VP - insane...

    Advice to Management

You cannot tell management anything at GSK - they have all the answers. They are slowly dying because they cannot or will not, abandon that mindset. 24/7/365 reorganizations and downsizings are NOT a legitimate business strategy in the 21st century......HELLLLOOOOO??? Anyone listening?
