    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prospotentially good career prospects if in the right department. Good company percs.

Consfavouritism, too many people trying to be heard and to be visible to climb the ladder, some managers talk down to you, depending on department too much heirarchy.

    ProsExcellent employee engagement
    Good employee development
    Good employee benefits

ConsEmployee's only get promoted if they are liked my the right managers
Centralisation has led to jobs beings narrow, with very little development

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are too many managers in GSK, therefore employees are not empowered. Focus on career development.

    Good company and nobel charter.

    Senior Human Resources (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsIt's got fantastic values and behaviours to aspire to. Work is interesting and potential to work on projects that provide real value to society is there.

ConsStruggling with a new identity and walking the talk of those values. Consider if you are young talent, but beware if you are over 50. They are looking for youn talent and pushing out older employees to save costs.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue expertise and experience along with leadership, not at the expense of.

Company attempting to make massive jump in how it works, but too much deadweight might pull it down.

    Finance Manager (Current Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsGood working environment, some very capable people. Lots of growth potential. Not as open to new ideas as previously thought.

ConsPay is all over the place. Same seniority ranking can have over 30% difference, doesnt matter amount of direct reports or work hours. Company has restructured benefits, bonuses, and pensions to be as low and as cheap as possible.

Work hours can be quite tense at time, and culture represents a hit or miss and you're out.

Recognitions are a bit of a joke when they do happen.

Organization very burocratic and slow to react at times, very seniority driven.

Advice to Senior ManagementClarify and standardize salary curves per grade. Recognize long hours and real contribution or the business.

There is a lot, a LOT of dead weight.

Only a nice place to work if you are permanent employee

Business Continuity Test Manager (Former Employee)
    London, England (UK)

ProsKnowledgeable co-workers, professional attitudes, wide variety of training provided, and earnest effort to provide tools needed to carry out work.

ConsTwo tier staff system with excellent benefits for GSK staff but no benefits, no security, no advancement for contract staff - very clear 2nd class status for contractors particularly total lack of parking. Lower level managers often poorly trained.

Advice to Senior ManagementContractor staff make up an increasing percentage of staff so consider giving them some of the more no/low cost extras that all staff normally get. ie use of gyms, parking.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
