    Pros

It's a really good environment to work with a team and to get to know people. It's really interesting to see all of the donations come in, and then to put it out on the floor yourself. The discount is also really beneficial.

    Cons

The management is terrible. Very unprofessional and full of gossip. I'm sure it's different at other stores. The management also is very inconsistent with comforting associates, which makes some store associates lazy and it creates a bad work ethic. I find myself taking a lot of responsibility for pure laziness.

    Advice to Management

    Get you act together.

    Pros

Different types of people, loved all the different types of fashion and various items you see that get donated. Everything has a backstory and loved hearing it from different types of people. Loved working with various types of organizations. Great pay and great incentives

    Cons

Didn't like the fact that they weren't flexible with schedule, denied various growth opportunities, managers were rude in how they spoke to you especially the store manager or area manager, rude volunteers, and inconsistencies in communication between management.

    Advice to Management

Get on the same page before communicating to employees whether it be about organization of store, upcoming events, or time management.

    Pros

It is a great place to work if you enjoy helping people or working in social service industry. Good opportunity to work with different demographics of people.

    Cons

Goodwill is a non profit industry and as a result, operate on a shoestring budget. Their equipment is often outdated and software is usually not the best tool for the job.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on employee recognition. It can't always be about the almighty dollar. When employees are making minimum wage, they need other things to keep them motivated in their jobs.

    I worked at Goodwill

    Pros

Great mission, and clients. Decent work hours and caseload. Well designed programs for the most part.

    Cons

Mid level management and administration do not have a passion or respect for the mission. Also a lot of office politics when it comes to promotions.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to lead by example. When managers degrade clients and staff it creates a negative work environment. (This review is specific to Goodwill of De and De county)

    Pros

You get to work with a very diverse team and you become close with a lot of your workers and customers.

    Cons

Zero work/life balance. That's pretty normal throughout retail and Goodwill is no different. I've only been working for 6 months and i've never had to work so many 6 days a week ever in my life.

    Advice to Management

Pay the workers more so they actually stay around longer.
