Overall good if you are at a less busy location. I am a donation attendant and sometimes it can get hectic with all the donors coming and going.

I have been working at Goodwill full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good work/life balance
    Easy job
    Mostly frustration free
    Great support from senior managers
Open door policy that really works
    Good benefits

    Cons

Lack of communication and transparency with the general public can sometimes lead to awkward conversations with customers and employees who just want to know why we do things the way we do them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We sell used items and need to remain focused on that. Please stop bringing new goods into the stores and marking them up to laughable levels

I have been working at Goodwill part-time

    Pros

Their starting pay is a bit higher than minimum and very simple job.

    Cons

The corporate policies do not make much sense and at times inefficient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're going to standardize all the stores in the district, come up with better ideas that make sense.

I have been working at Goodwill

    Pros

The company fosters a culture of advancement and recognizing it's people. The impact the company has on people is truly amazing; community programs and Workforce Connection Centers.

    Cons

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but working in the Retail side of the company is a whole new experience. The business is very different from mainstream retailers. You have to be able to manage the retail store and donation center.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to foster a culture of recognition and advancement.

I worked at Goodwill part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Decent upper management. You did receive employee discounts on already cheap items. Able to learn about products since they are constantly changing and you don't see the same thing every day. Everyone is very friendly. (I only had problems with one manager.. but every business has something!) I loved what I did and the people I was around, but I had to leave when I found a better paying offer. You can't stay in retail all your life!

    Cons

Softlines production/hardlines production/donations attendant is very repetitive but you have a co-worker across the table to be able to talk to for most of the day.
Sales associates get a decent amount put on their shoulders. They are checking people out, putting softlines/hardlines away when they are not busy at the registers. Rotating out old inventory. Organizing items. Helping customers. It is a decent amount, but usually not too hard to handle. If you get backed up they would usually send people out from the back.
Pay is decent for retail, hard to get full-time status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not too much, everything seemed to run smoothly. There is one manager that causes problems with employees and no-one really likes.

    No opinion of CEO
