I have been working at Goodwill full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Strong leadership, strategic focus, employee-centric culture, service-minded staff, innovative reuse/greening models. Great work-life balance.

    Cons

Overwhelming workloads, funding chases, non-competitive salaries and annual raises. Lack of internal upward mobility for young, competent, results-driven professionals in HS divisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in competitive business skills; acquire sharp, bright, marketable talent for HS divisions. Invest in professional development. Expand IT department and technology suites.

I have been working at Goodwill part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work atmosphere is laid-back and team oriented. Knowing that you are both directly and indirectly helping the community is a plus.

    Cons

There is a high turn-over rate for both leadership positions and the lower positions. There is also a lack of adequate job training, the "team leaders" sometimes have little to no knowledge in their designated departments, I think the "laid-back atmosphere" relates to this.

    Pros

Wonderful people on my team. Organization cares about the community and can positively change peoples lives.

    Cons

Looks at the next shiny thing to diversify efforts which provides jobs, but can also be taken away when it fails. This has happened often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure the next shiny thing is actually viable.
