    Unbelievable Internship Experience

BOLD Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsIncredibly internal transparency, great compensation, and some of the smartest and most engaging people in the world. Was encouraged to pursue my passion with an extra '20%' project, and was given work that really matters.

ConsVery flat corporate structure. This means a lot of movement laterally, but can sense some frustration with employees for moving up.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to explore + innovate, and keep culture of intellectual enthusiasm.

    Great internship

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsVery smart people, great food and other perks (massages!), interesting project, good mentoring for interns, lots of events for interns.

ConsCompany is too big, as an intern interested in joining full-time it is hard to find out what other projects are that people work on. No general talks or internal project sites to look at.

    Awesome BOLD Summer Internship

BOLD Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsSmart people, great perks (food, gyms, fun, free SWAG), overal good experience for a college kid looking to learn a bunch while having a great summer

ConsFrom the summer, it seemed that business opportunities were a bit limited. Also, recruiting timelines took forever -- they were very slow about getting back to candidates.

One of the best companies to work for

Software Engineering Intern (Former Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsEverything included. Amazing culture and people.

ConsGetting slower as it's a big company - but probably still the best of its size.

    Intern for Platforms Team

Software Engineer Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsWork is very challenging, culture is fantastic. There is always something going on and it's easy to get yourself involved in anything, even if it's outside your area of expertise.

ConsBe prepared to spend huge amounts of time teaching yourself most of what you need to know.
If you can get to know people early, this isn't so bad.

A great summer software engineering internship at Google

Software Engineering Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsThe atmosphere in Google's offices can best be described as "college-like." It's about as far from the Dilbert-esque corporate boredom as you could possibly get. The food was great, and while I stayed in the office for long hours every day, my work schedule didn't feel oppressive to me, simply because it was such a nice work environment. The meals, microkitchens, and enjoyment of just taking a break and walking around the building and finding random pool tables, porch swings, and napping pods made staying in the office an enjoyable experience--not to mention the challenging and interesting project that I was working on.

ConsMy biggest complaint with Google is linked to the college-like atmosphere--there is not enough space in the Mountain View office in which I worked. Our room had 16 people in it when there should have been no more than nine. To someone like me who is easily distracted by extraneous noise and conversation, I found it challenging to filter out the distractions of overhearing so many other conversations. I found it necessary to wear ear buds with good noise insulation, and to pipe white noise through my earphones, in order to concentrate well enough to be productive.

    Best internship!

Platforms Project Manager Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsGoogle treats interns even better than full time employees. All of the employees all the way up to VP personally spend time with you and take your opinion.

ConsThe hiring process at Google is really slow and not very transparant.
