I have been working at Google full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Working with some of the smartest people in the world on products used by millions.
    2. Great diversity of products you can potentially work on.
    3. Offices around the world, so you don't have to be in Silicon Valley.
    4. Very humane culture. E.g., you're encouraged not to work late and not to do email on weekends. Generous perks are another aspect of this.

    Cons

    1. Male/female ratio (although this is an industry-wide issue, and Google is working hard to address it).
    2. Design and product quality still not consistently high enough. However, they're very conscious of it and it's improving quickly.

I have been working at Google full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Career-wise this is a great place to work - there are opportunities for anyone who is willing to build a reputation. The work itself, the smart people and the perks: a Japanese restaurant serving up Asian food every day for free!

    Cons

I would say the main downside is that people work such long hours. Perhaps this is because the environment is so competitive. I also don't think the salary in London is competitive with the main alternative employers - investment banks.

I have been working at Google as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great perks: free food, arcade, gym, pool table, laundry, snack bar, bus service. There are weekly one on one meetings to gauge performance and provide advice, which I find very useful.

    Cons

Difficult if you are a contract position as they do no convert on a regular basis. It sometimes also feels that you are treated as '2nd-class' as you are not a full-time employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would be nice if you converted more contract employees, especially if they performed very well and to the best of their abilities
