    I worked at Google

    Pros

The company is extremely transparent internally, supports lifelong learning (if there is something you want to learn it is likely there is a class available on the topic), and you work with some of the smartest people around. The work environment is great, as is the food, fitness centers, and other added benefits.

    Cons

If you end up on a project you aren't all that interested in or a team you don't quite mesh with, you may not enjoy your work as much as you could if you were placed on another team/project, though it seems fairly painless to switch teams if you aren't enjoying what you do anymore.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Besides great work environment, learning opportunity is another great benefit for fresh graduates, including Google technologies, Google culture & values, and learning from other great people. Work-life balance is pretty good. People will not expect you to work late or during weekends, as people care about your work quality not your work time.

    Cons

As a big company, Google also has to have many management process during code development, so sometimes your working pace will not be as fast as you expected.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

It's Google. But seriously, tons of cool stuff going on, and the ability to impact lives at scale. The work is challenging.

    Cons

It's easy to get caught up in the multitude of emails, especially when working on teams that cross timezones. Work-life balance is something that you have to specifically think about.

I worked at Google as an intern

    Pros

The environment and culture are wonderful. There's free food and events. The company does interesting work. You fee like your work is relevant when you work here because of the nature of the company's work. The people are nice, smart, and down to earth.

    Cons

People are assigned a lot of work so you must be sure to do a good job balancing your workload. It's hard to get work done when you have so many awesome distractions like neat events to attend.

I have been working at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    1. There are rich resources for internal training.
    2. Flexible time and nice work/life balance.
    3. Generous payment and relocation stipend.
    4. Gorgeous people to work and interact at work.
    5. Google holds internal weekly meetings to share the most recent progress in various teams.

    Cons

As the company is too big, it takes more time to learn about the different opportunities on a higher level. Typical projects have narrow focuses and it is hard to learn what everybody else is doing in the team.

I have been working at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, incredible culture, hard-working peers, and great opportunities to grow professionally. The environment promotes teamwork and support rather than competition and sabotage which is great.

    Cons

Google is not immune to office politics. Many people are invested in their own responsibilities and projects that it becomes difficult to ensure that you are receiving the necessary and training for your own job. Also, mobility is more common horizontally rather than vertically.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone's very bright and hardworking, but everyone knows this already. More important, the Google culture is one of openness. Many docs are publicly visible, so you can learn about other projects in the company, and people enjoy talking about what they're working on.

    Cons

This varies significantly by location, but some workspaces are very tightly crammed, with people sitting side-by-side in long tables. This is a distracting and unpleasant work environment. It's like being in an industrial chicken coop. Engineers need quiet!

I have been working at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Did an internship as a Software Engineer at the London office and also had the opportunity to visit Mountain View.
    * My team was great, all super talented people from different areas (most of them Ivy-leaguers) - theoretical Physisists, CS folks, hardware specialists and even guys with background in social sciences - all of them software engineers, too.
    * The project was super interesting and meaningful and unlike other companies, Google has very good tutorials/material to get you up to speed in whatever you do.
    * The atmosphere is great. Awesome food and the little micro-kitchens make you feel very comfortable. But it's not only the food, most engineers are very outgoing and fun and the ones who aren't are good at heart.
    * Reputation. Google not only does great software but does what many other large companies fail to do: they conduct research in areas beyond their core business, in areas that are completely new, only to prove everyone wrong and show what can be done. Examples (just to name a few): - Google Fiber - Google Glass - Project Loon - Google driverless car. Personally, I find this super exciting.
    * Benefits. There's so many, even for interns! Don't know where to start. You can spend 20% of your time on a project of your choice. I did a 20% project with another intern, that was really fun.
    * Cool activities. The recruiters did a truly awesome job at organizing weekly fun activities (e.g. we watched "the Internship" before its original release in the cinema, flew to the Zurich office for the "intern summit", just to name a few ). And this in addition to all the other fun stuff happening every day.

    Cons

    * many people think high of themselves; but I guess this is normal in companies that hire the best, luckliy there's most people aren't like this

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring awesome tech people. Maybe raise standards for technical questions.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Really, really smart people. Great pay. Great perks. Great culture. You can really tell that almost everyone there thinks they are doing what is best for the world. They aren't just there to make a quick buck.

    Cons

It seems like there are a lot of people who are over-qualified for what they're doing. This isn't really an issue for an intern but it could be down the road. As an intern, it can be stressful trying to get your project done in such a short amount of time. No one puts pressure on you but if you want to get a full time offer, you probably want to try to impress them. Also, since they're obsessed with (un-biased) data, they insist on having interns do more interviews at the end of their internship if they want to convert to full time. If you happen to have a bad day or get an interviewer you really don't click with, you're basically screwed, no matter how good your reviews from your manager and co-workers are. After this, they are VERY strict about you not re-applying for a least a year, by which point anyone would have already found another job.
