I worked at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Great company culture. Valued even as an intern.
    - Fun challenging projects and you learn a ton. You will always be learning something in this company.
    - Very smart and friendly environment.
    - As an intern, career opportunities in the sense of converting to full time is a much smoother process than applying for full time without coming from an internship. Still the process is selective but considerably nicer.

    Cons

    - Experience is dependent on teams. I unfortunately had a team with less energy and drive.
    - Depending on the breadth of the project and whether you need to work with remote teams, it can really feel like a clanky large company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to maintain the company culture and make management decisions as transparent as possible.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Incredibly internal transparency, great compensation, and some of the smartest and most engaging people in the world. Was encouraged to pursue my passion with an extra '20%' project, and was given work that really matters.

    Cons

Very flat corporate structure. This means a lot of movement laterally, but can sense some frustration with employees for moving up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to explore + innovate, and keep culture of intellectual enthusiasm.

I worked at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Smart people, great perks (food, gyms, fun, free SWAG), overal good experience for a college kid looking to learn a bunch while having a great summer

    Cons

From the summer, it seemed that business opportunities were a bit limited. Also, recruiting timelines took forever -- they were very slow about getting back to candidates.

A great summer software engineering internship at Google

I worked at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The atmosphere in Google's offices can best be described as "college-like." It's about as far from the Dilbert-esque corporate boredom as you could possibly get. The food was great, and while I stayed in the office for long hours every day, my work schedule didn't feel oppressive to me, simply because it was such a nice work environment. The meals, microkitchens, and enjoyment of just taking a break and walking around the building and finding random pool tables, porch swings, and napping pods made staying in the office an enjoyable experience--not to mention the challenging and interesting project that I was working on.

    Cons

My biggest complaint with Google is linked to the college-like atmosphere--there is not enough space in the Mountain View office in which I worked. Our room had 16 people in it when there should have been no more than nine. To someone like me who is easily distracted by extraneous noise and conversation, I found it challenging to filter out the distractions of overhearing so many other conversations. I found it necessary to wear ear buds with good noise insulation, and to pipe white noise through my earphones, in order to concentrate well enough to be productive.

I have been working at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Google treats interns even better than full time employees. All of the employees all the way up to VP personally spend time with you and take your opinion.

    Cons

The hiring process at Google is really slow and not very transparant.
