    Pros

I'm excited about our new CEO Joel Hawthorne. Craig Shular did a great job motivating employees and he picked an excellent replacement in Joel. Graftech is a good company that treats its employees fairly.

    Cons

Uncertainty caused by the recent proxy fight. Steel industry cycle that has affected company profits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick with your plan, econemy is improving.

    Pros

Generally good morale, as long as market conditions are good. Approachable executives and nice people to work with. Strong culture of ethics.

    Cons

Very connected to market conditions, and expands and contracts accordingly. Lots of recent layoffs. Some archaic policies, work conditions, and programs/computer systems. Some cronyism. Insufficient training. Undervaluing of some key roles. Weak HR leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update of systems needed to stay competitive and increase efficiency. Increase compensation to retain top talent.

Current Employee - Director in Cleveland, OH

    Pros

Day to day work was challenging, with new projects and business areas providing ample opportunities for significant contributions and recognition. Management supportive of work/life balance.

    Cons

Benefits (retirement, health care) were slashed as the company struggled a number of years ago, in spite of management promises to maintain these for established employees and retirees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership is not just decision-making. It is also about your employees knowing that they will be treated at least as well as investors. Respect. Honesty. Commitment.

    Recommends
    No opinion of CEO
