    Pros

There is already a clientele so you need not worry about that.

    Cons

The management only care about getting the hours that they want. Sell sell sell....... They want to make money off of you and if you cant sell their over priced products then they will let you go. They say that if you cant do 10 minute cuts then you make next to no money. The point is to get them out as soon as possible. They dont care about their employees and I would never recommend anyone to work for them. Not in Gastonia n.c. anyhow. In order to get health insurance through this company you have to be full time. I was hired on as full time yet no one got the hours needed to get the insurance. If there was a way to give them a 0 star rating, this is what they would get from me.

    Advice to Management

Treat the employees as you want to be treated and take your job as serious as you do your personal life. If you want stylists to bee 100% then you have to be 100%. Respect is earned. I would never work for this salon again. Even fast food pays better.

    Pros

Cutting experience since they offer no other services. No color. No styling. No perms.

    Cons

They do not train employees or manage salon professionally.

    Advice to Management

Set expectations upfront. Train your employees. Don't have egotistical "assistant-managers" with less than 1 year tenure evaluating staff.

    Pros

None that are available. I have a very strong work ethic and this was by far THE WORST work experience of my working years! I will never recommend anyone to work here or get their hair cut at GreatClips especially in Corvallis.

    Cons

No hairstylist can give a professional looking haircut to anyone in less than 12 minutes. It is about listening to the clients needs and going beyond their expectations. it is not about chopping them up, and sending them out the door so you can make more money. It's about meeting peoples needs and Great Clips has no clue how to do that!

    Advice to Management

You need to listen to people, be teachable in learning management skills, and place a priority on people instead of money. For when you put your heart and passion into something and into people that you care about, the money will naturally follow.

    Pros

Liked it in the beginning to get practice cutting

    Cons

Began to feel used, unappreciated and disrespected as time went on

    Advice to Management

Quit looking at numbers and look at the quality of customer service being provided. Not everything in life can be measured with numbers believe it or not. pay the stylists better and don't have them work off the clock by taking your deposits to the bank after dark.

    Pros

Guaranteed hourly wage as opposed to commission like most salons

    Cons

If you are serious about being in the hair industry I would avoid this job. They teach you how to badly cut hair in a very short amount of time. Actually the faster you cut hair and burn and turn clients the more money you make. Great for you, but terrible for the client.

    Advice to Management

I understand some people don't want to spend a lot of money on their hair, but it's companies like this that hurt the hair industry especially those of us who really love our jobs and take our clients needs seriously.

    Pros

Only pros is being a manager and being able to hire who I want, make the schedule how I want, and do what I love (cutting hair).

    Cons

Franchisee owners are terrible, just opened 6 months ago, they're never there to offer guidance, often micromanage us by texting, opened up another salon and forgot about us, they don't do any reports or number crunching, I literally do everything an owner would do while managing and get $11/hour. I can't even raise my family or have a home life since I'm at the salon 24/7. Any "failure" gets put onto me and it's not pretty. Writing me up for not posting daily craigslist ads for recruiting?! I post every other day. Zero benefits, zero bonuses set in place. Academy is a joke. Zero marketing tools to use, so customer count is low for new salons with crappy locations.

    Advice to Management

Owners need to be more in touch with how to run a business, don't take your employees for granted because they will band together and all leave you to fend for yourselves. Pay your employees more than $7.25/hour and stop breathing down their necks about numbers.

    I worked at Great Clips

    Pros

All of the training prior to being on the salon floor is paid (week long training.)

    Cons

This would probably be a fantastic place to work....if they were not so money hungry. I was told by management to get the customer in and out of my chair within ten minutes. It didn't matter what cut was being done, they wanted it done quickly, they stated if the customer doesn't like it they will come back to get it fixed. The women I worked with were not very friendly to me or the customers, they would rush through the cut to make their quota so they would get paid more.

    Pros

    Nice customers. Close to home.

    Cons

One employee received more hours and worked 9-5 every day. No nights. The rest of us received less hours and I had to close and make the deposit every night. My pay check bounced two times. When I quit I never received my last pay check or my cosmetology license.

    Advice to Management

    Close this shop!!!!!

    Pros

Fast cash, usually pretty busy, full or part time,

    Cons

13-18 min haircuts says enough you cant do proper haircut and see how it will lay unless you do finishing work which is an extra $25 and up. The clients that go there go because its cheap. The clients are rude. The management is a joke. The owners only care that they are making money. Getting a raise, vacation, or time off is hard. And moving up inthe company is hard too

    Advice to Management

Stop taking every coupon under the sun! Your making your stylist lives hell and your screwing the company out of money too.
