Good Company to Work For

Associate Manager (Current Employee)
Toronto, ON (Canada)

I have been working at Great-West Life Assurance full-time for more than 7 years

ProsReasonable compensation, stable work environment, friendly people and upper management. Overall it is a well known and stable company. A good work-life balance can easily be maintained.

ConsIt would be better if there was a little more approval authority lower in the company. The business process can at times be a little slow and sometimes it feels as though the company is a little behind the times. Not even offered a Blackberry.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to download some authority and involve more people in the decision making process. Offer employees a path to succeed in the company. Show them how they can continue to advance and further their career. Modernize your computer systems and communications network (Why are we still using Office 2007?, Why no Blackberries?, Why no ability to work from home?) These should be standard in this day and age)

I have been working at Great-West Life Assurance

ProsThis company is dedicated to training, education and promotion from within. They provide a wide variety of resources to help you get your job done.

ConsIf you don't like the idea of insurance in general, this may be a tough place for you to work. Also, there is a heavy workload which if you like to ponder things before making decisions may be a challenge.
