I have been working at Great Wolf Resorts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

One of the best things is the people. It's very hard to find a place where you can get along with a majority of the people. Somehow Great Wolf has weeded out the riff raff and managed to keep a pretty stellar staff.

    Cons

Moving up has been an issue. Opportunities were presented then retracted without any real reason. Still not sure about some of these issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think it should go without saying that any management team needs to open their ears and keep the good employees happy. Stop looking at numbers and dollar signs for a minute because if your employees aren't happy your customers won't be either.

I have been working at Great Wolf Resorts part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The culture of the Lodge is friendly. My fellow life guards are very happy and energetic. The supervisors are very helpful and kind. it is easy to get time off.

    Cons

The wages are only $8/hour. The guests can be somewhat annoying or bossy at times. It is a rather large company so the management is not involved in every operation.

Fun culture, people that care. Good pay if you work your way up.

    Cons

Just dealing with crazy guests can be a hassle, employees are mostly good people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer some kind of internship for college students.

    Pros

Fun environment, employee appreciation & incentives, decent benefits, company cares about guests as well as employees!

    Cons

No matter how nice and accomodating you are you cant make some guests happy. Have to deal with some parents over exaggerating any minute issue and saying you've ruined their kids vacation when the kids are fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great employee recognition!

I have been working at Great Wolf Resorts full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility with scheduling, being able to work around school schedule. Promotions are usually from within the department. Internal transfers to different departments are done with ease. Aquatics receives the most and most constant hours out of the entire hotel.

    Cons

Some guests can not be pleased and will always find something to complain about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the ADP system. HR needs to be more empathetic and understanding to lower level employees.

    Pros

The pay was pretty good for right out of college and it is pretty low stress. The people you work with are all fun and easy to get along with.

    Cons

It gets boring doing the same thing over and over. They also seem to fire employees fairly easily, so make sure to always do your best. You also have multiple bosses and sometimes can get overwhelmed with work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Throw in some creative assignments to spice things up.

I have been working at Great Wolf Resorts (more than an year)

    Pros

It is a great place to work if you enjoy meeting new people, and interacting with lots of people. Also it is very family orientated and a place to work if you seeking a second job, or needing something to get by while in school. They will start you out with little over Minimum wage plus during summer time you will possible get lots of hours if you are looking for a gig.

    Cons

Cons about this place is that sometimes management can be very bias when it comes to their employees. If a particular employee can give them great compliments and get them stuff; basically that employee right there get quite a bit of favoritism over the others. Also, they have a tendensy of scheduling lots of people on slow days and cut you after you work about 4-5 hours. Normally they will allow the favs to work a 8 hour shift and cut the others with poor excusses
It would be much better to cut people according to the time they arrive. (eg. if a person is schedule from 9am-5pm; and another person is schedule from 12-8, it should be the 9-5 person being cute first then the persons after them so basically everyone will get a fair cut of hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    treat everyone equally
