I have been working at Green Tree Servicing full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They have very competitive pay and benefits. The soda machines only cost $0.25! Amazing

    Cons

They suck so bad. No one knows what they are doing. This company is like a mom and pop company only they have over 2 million loans. All the systems are home grown so the longer you stay, the less likely you are to ever find another job. You can't take the "skills" you learn any where. This company is in a never ending spiral of back log and catch up work. The management doesn't need to know anything about mortgage to be hired. If you have managed a goat farm, they will take you any way. Don't even know what mortgage mean? Hired! There is also a lot of favoritism and the only way you can get ahead is to become BFFs with the AVP. No matter your experience or education, you'll only advance if you are a brown noser. The corporate ladder is seriously broken and can be bypassed if you're liked, but used as an excuse to hold you back if you're not a favorite.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management needs to stop showing favoritism, stop being so full of themselves and learn some professionalism.

I worked at Green Tree Servicing full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is nothing to gain from working at Green Tree other than low self esteem, gray hair, and ulcers.

    Cons

There are so many layers of Vice Presidents it is amazing that anything ever gets done. Anything below an Assistant VP (Directors, Managers, Supervisors) has no authority whatsoever over personnel decisions, budgets, goals, or even day to day operations yet are held fully accountable. The level of micromanagement borders on obscene. Priorities change almost daily, and projects are never completed, leading to a vicious circle of incompetence that never really improves. Cronyism is commonplace; this leads to individuals completely out of line management having more authority than higher level management positions. Many employees and a lot of management are tenured; there are many managers and supervisors in positions that they have no business being in and are only there as a result of their time spent with the company. Employees are largely treated as commodities, and new hire positions are traded almost like baseball cards between VPs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honestly, there's no hope for improvement short of a complete gutting of the middle layers (AVP down) of management and starting over. But first a paradigm shift has to occur at the upper levels of the organization. Allow time for the company to adapt to what it has become and to create/enhance a supporting infrastructure of technology, tools, knowledge, and employees before moving on to the next big portfolio purchase. Slapping bandaids on systems and processes is not sustainable.

I worked at Green Tree Servicing full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

High pay if your willing to risk it all. But remember, you are personally held responsible for everything you say to get money and if they sue it can be held against you personally. There are way better companies to work for if you like collections.

    Cons

Management will ride you like a bus if you do not perform at their level of expectations. At month end they will tell you not to break the law with the number of phone calls you make but if you don't get the money your fired! I strongly urge you not to work in any collections position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Their are more ethical companys to work for. Get out before they fire you.

    Pros

On the surface, appears to be a nice place. Nothing fancy, but a typicall call center, collections operations. However, the expereince from the inside does not match.

    Cons

Management speaks of inclusion, valuing the input of employees and being inclusive, however the reality is quite different. My experience was the opposite. Active participation and employee suggestions are discouraged, ignored, or punished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Any advice offered will not listened to, so why bother? At least I can't be punished since I no longer work there.

    Pros

    There are no prosat all.

    Cons

Written up because I was late a couple of time although
I did not take a lunch or break...ever!'
Worked overtime many days of week because of workload-so much so that that I would miss the last bus home and needed my husband to come and pick me up, which was a huge inconvience.
If he didn't like a communication, he would not ask why I did it that way, just yelled at me.
Yelled at me constantly, asked him to use an indoor voice and he said that this is the way he was (someone a few rows away, that I did not know, came over and asked what was going on). nice!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to employees about work load.
Monitor your voice volume. Don't yell at some in front of everyone, unit members and people down the hall know , what a screw up you are, and don't deserve to live.
Make it a place that people will want to work for you.

    Pros

Co-workers are great, benefits are good

    Cons

Goals are not realistic, supervisors are only interested in their goals not to help an employee, nothing is ever good enough, upper management is worse than middle management. Schedules are ridiculous never work the same hours from week to week

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try looking at the work environment from the point of view of a floor employee, or maybe work a month of their schedules while putting up with the unrealistic pressure you place on them and see how you like it

I have been working at Green Tree Servicing full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

None. I cannot think of one.

    Cons

Too many to list. The worst? They are not a SERVICER. Since 1985 I've worked for several Mortgage Loan Servicers that actually SERVICED the borrower. Green tree doesn't service anyone but themselves and the investor. It's all about collecting the money, hitting production quotas, receiving money from investors for meeting the quota. The customer is another number. Sad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a minute to SERVICE the customer or take "SERVICING" out of the company name. The people who have lost jobs, spouses, children, are terminally ill or have children that are, the disabled, those with cancer. Have even a LITTLE, SMALL, TINY, bit of compassion. I understand that these are the people that hinder you from getting paid by the investor, but they are also the reason you have a job. I obviously work for the wrong company.

    Pros

32,000 a year. Compensation =good. working with rude loudmouths = bad!

    Cons

At Fredericksburg, VA office, co-workers, yelled when they got a payment, shouted at and demeaned the customers, rude, loud atmosphere in a CALL CENTER!! People were singing out loud at their desks for all to hear...bad environment for focusing on customer service.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Step up and tell the LOUD, RUDE people to shut up!

    Pros

The bonuses were nice , that is if you can ever achieve them.

    Cons

EVERYTHING ELSE, such as the management, pay, lack of training, unrealistic expectations, not very understanding of having time off. You are expected to be there rain, sleet, hail, hell (lol), snow, and any other weather conditions. Everyone is all for self. It's not a very friendly company. They act like robots and you are expected to learn a years worth of information in one week! You will be micro managed like never before. You are

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STOP MICRO MANAGING ADULTS! PROVIDE ADEQUATE TRAINING!! TWO WEEKS TO LEARN PILES OF INFO IS RETARDED! Don't expect someone to perform at high levels when they are not provided with the training and info in order to do so!
