I worked at Guardian Protection Services full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Happy and nice TL & Supervisors. benefits. some room for growth. Great training. They start you at $11/hr and after training it goes higher based on previous experience & benefits. You also get a 3% raise every year & at 5 years you get an extra week of time off.

    Cons

Though they train you to do your job very well, if you are new to the corporate world, they do not fully explain benefits or rules about tardiness. There are resources on their knowledge base, but you have to be proactive & know where to find them and what questions to ask.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please explain all of your expectations upfront, and not only what they are, but why. I really enjoyed working there, but I was unaware of some policies that turned out to be very important to my continued employment.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people in the office, and excellent technicians performing the work. Even the sub contractors used are outstanding. This is a tough industry to please every customer, but Guardian does its best.

    Cons

Pay plan was changed last year and still not convinced it is better than the old one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only advice I would have is to make sure the customer service reps. at corporate know how to handle customer questions in regards to the technology we sell, and not just the alarm systems.

    Pros

Loved their package systems which used top of the line Ademco Vista 20.

    Cons

Corporate to Branch level seemed a bit detached or distant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Conference calls, employee webinars/training, or other ways to get branches to feel connected.

I have been working at Guardian Protection Services full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I'm awesome and make the company awesome by being a part of it.

    Cons

GPS in vans, communication within the company is lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on the customer, give service techs time and materials to complete the job, dump the gps, micro managing kills motivation. We don't work in cubicles so stop acting like we do, most of us got into service for the on the road freedom, we do not want the stress of an office environment.

I worked at Guardian Protection Services

    Pros

Fantastic support, they do a great job of educating their employees. Instead of just firing low performing reps, they ask what they can do to help, provide all the support and information a rep could ask for. I don't know about the rest of the offices, but the office I worked in was really run well, great communication and support, nice incentives.

    Cons

Commission plan was never clearly explained, and was very convoluted and complicated. They give you a commission plan, but there are so many variables, it's tough to calculate your pay from one sale to the next.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean up the commission plan, and streamline it. Make it easier for your sales team to figure out how much they can expect to earn from one sale to the next.
