I have been working at Guess? full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I am able to learn a lot and train various types of personalities while still developing my own skill set. I was able to elevate my role in the company as a leader in visual merchandising.

    Cons

I am not acknowledge or compensated for all my traveling or for my elevated role in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest and up front with your employees ands managers about the role they will play and are expected to play in the company.

I have been working at Guess?

    Pros

Client was more upbeat outgoing. Was lucky to have a great manager, so learned a lot from her.

    Cons

Upper management was horrible. No appreciation, no consideration. Pay is minimum. Other employees would not show up, therefore you would not be allowed to leave. There were times I started at 9am and left at 7 pm because nobody showed up at 4pm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to sales associates

I have been working at Guess? full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have a food court… The frozen yogurt was a great perk.
They have a gym. It's not that nice, but they do offer spin and yoga classes.

    Cons

I guess it's kind of like a prison. They told us to walk quickly in the hallways so that they know we're always doing something. You get 3 breaks a day. 15 minutes between 9:45-10:15 (I think that was it), 1 hour between 12-2 and another 15 between 3-3:30. If you were caught on break outside one of those times you were put on a "list". If they schedule a meeting during that time, you're just SOL. I don't really take breaks at my current job, not even lunch, but that feeling of imprisonment will make you want to get out.

I had constant job insecurity at Guess. It was one of the most stressful, depressing times during my life. Maybe I got stuck with a bad team, but I would highly suggest staying away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Properly train your employees. Create a happier, less fear-ridden work environment.

I worked at Guess? full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

40-50% discount depending on location you work at
get to play dress up when new items come in
constantly able to change up visuals, visual standards not too high (I also have worked for AnF)

    Cons

overwork/expect a lot of employees, management or part time
not a lot of praise for good work but a lot of talks on how to improve
coworkers very clique-y, makes it hard for new team members
strict on clock in/out, meals, etc
stay open past mall hours because you know we might make sales goals if we get those stragglers
Minimal opportunity to move from retail to corporate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

reward your team for a job well done
    don't overload them with work
understand employees have personal lives, I don't eat breathe live my job

I worked at Guess? full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I had some great like-minded teammates. Our cafe was very good. Spin, Yoga, and a fitness room was added benefits.

    Cons

Extremely structured. Everyone worked from 7-6pm where we had 2 scheduled breaks. I couldn't get coffee at a random time unless it was on a scheduled break. Work-Life balance was not ideal. Exec team had a few great members, but one was very intimidating and could be downright mean. It would make your job very stressful and ALWAYS doubting your work. Overall atmosphere made me very unhappy. Long hours, the room we worked in had no windows, LOTS of pressure.

I have been working at Guess?

    Pros

You meet friendly people and learn retail lingo.

    Cons

You work long hours until early mornings (2am). They don't care if you're sick and have to call out. They are very catty and play favoritism yet they all talk about each other. And they only pay minimum wage and don't care about your experience

I have been working at Guess? part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Who does like fashion? And Guess is a great company to learn a lot more about trends, driving sales and customer service. Great discount.

    Cons

Upper leaders like they like to call themselves think of themselves like aGod, so they like treating their associates with little respect ( at least in my store) there is no motivation and everyday they're are coming up with a different focus which takes away what we really need to focus which is customers and sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are what make companies, the way the feel where they work is important because good vibes make anything possible. A company shouldn't be ran by who is who's favorite but by who works and shows passion and dedication. I've worked with many great leaders but the ones I have now have just pushed me away we the disrespect and mistreatment of the store manager and one of the cos. it's sad because I thought I would be able to grow old with Guess since the company is great, the people hmmm no that much.

I have been working at Guess? full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, PTO, On-site gym, on-site cafe, on-site car wash.

    Cons

No room for growth. Raises are rarely given, even when performing beyond expectations. Boring. Don't feel like you are working in fashion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your people before everyone leaves. Change product! Workload is overwhelming. there's only a few people in each department where other companies have an entire team dedicated.
