    Pros

Most of the people are pretty cool to work with and the store managers are always willing to help.

    Cons

Managers (district and regional) and corporate set unrealistic goals and I feel that some of the rules they come up with are sexist. Also there isn't much room to grow with the company, and they care more about exceeding sales than keeping their employees happy.

    Advice to Management

Grow some and stop letting corporate run all over you.

    Pros

Very friendly and they take time to train you well. I've worked here for awhile so I have a lot of independence. Managers care and try their best to give you the time off you request.

    Cons

They have a high expectation of their employees to care about the company. I have been here 2 years and have not gotten a raise. On call shifts suck or they don't schedule you enough.

    Pros

Great discount, great product, good benefits, and cool atmosphere.

    Cons

External theft, terrible DM who makes you feel like you are nothing but a worker bee to him, and payroll management(not enough hours given to get things done off the sales floor).

    Advice to Management

Don't think your better just because of your rank

    Pros

Great benefits, lots of great people, looks impressive on resume.

    Cons

Very anxious environment, ruled-by-fear culture. It doesn't matter how late you work, you CANNOT be late the following morning. Lack of humanity, compassion, and very little joy. There are some truly wonderful people but the atmosphere is stifling. Working in a creative capacity puts you inside a box, since everything you do is required to be a derivative of what is already prevalent in the market, there is no room for originality or innovation.

    Advice to Management

The rigid fixation on timeliness and break/lunch start and stop times has got to go. Please familiarize yourselves with the simple concept of "getting your work done " and have faith in your people. Being 5, heck, 25 minutes late to work on any given day should not cause any of your employees to have a panic attack on the road. Paul may have a driver who picks him up every morning, but the rest of us still drive ourselves and it is pretty stressful worrying about losing your job at the same time as worrying about running red lights because you don't want to be late so you don't lose your job. So many people work so late, come in on weekends--it's absurd that they have to "be at their desk" by 8am.

    Pros

Employee discount. More open to hiring less experienced/ inexperienced retail workers.

    Cons

Hours are distributed based on performance and your avg. weekly sales per hr. Contrary to popular belief, no we do not receive commission. You are required to wear heels while you are on your shift At All Times.

    Advice to Management

Wearing heels during entire shift is nearly impossible (especially during black Friday) this is a cause for high risk and liability due to workers becoming injured while on the job and lower productivity since employees' feet are all tired/blistered, we are not able to get around that quick.

    Pros

Nice discount on clothes, ability to grow skill set, great job if a people's person, praise for doing well, get bonuses for certain things

    Cons

If a girl, you have to wear heels, encourages you to wear their clothes while working, a little stressful, have to meet high sales goal, short shifts, and people who work their are typically superficial as well as their customers.

    Advice to Management

Get it together! Coach new associates better. Go over what you demand a few times. And please be less superficial and uptight . Not a good work environment if it's anything like the one I worked at.

    I worked at Guess?

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Flexible hours. Discounts for other stores. Mall environment. Available parking. Management team was friendly and cooperative.

    Cons

Working in retail has its advantages and disadvantages. Long hours sometimes 12 hour shifts. Working through the holiday season can be overwhelming and tiring.

    Advice to Management

Create better goals for staff to increase sales production. Focus more on employee than customers. Try to maintain everyone's willingness to come to work and be productive.

    Pros

Working retail gives you experience with customer service, team work and competitive selling. It will help build or improve your ability to sell.

    Cons

The cons to working retail are the hours, they are not promised. You will have to work for your hours. Also working in a mall, the hours change and extend on holidays.

    Advice to Management

Retail workers feel like there should always be an incentive, or being rewarded for hard work. The more incentives the more motivation to sell.

    Pros

Did not have many workers so everyone got plenty of hours. Managers and coworkers were very nice, held parties/potlucks often. Pay started above minimum wage and got good raises every year.

    Cons

Management only promoted the girls they liked the most, rather than the individuals who deserved the associate manger position and who had been there longer. The DM was intimidating. They don't place you in sections where you are good/comfortable, you do what they tell you to, so if you have social anxiety or do not like to be forced to sell merchandise (even though you don't get commission), this is probably not the company for you.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favorites, promote the individuals that deserve the position rather than the workers you like. Place your employees in sections where they shine.
