Current Employee – been working at Guess? part-time for less than a year
Pros – -The amazing feeling of surpassing your daily SPH goals
-40-50% off all products
-A great learning experience that will open the way to many paths.
-awesome management
Cons – -little pay, and some stores seem to give little to no hours. I was getting 9 hours a week on average and I was the best seller at my store. (luckily I got transferred and I am now getting more hours)
-Sometimes tasks given seem impossible, although I realize it is to push us to our limits and improve us.
Advice to Senior Management – -have evaluation pamphlets to give out to your employees to answer anonymously about management so that upper management can have a good sense of what is going on.
-Notice excellence immediately in your workers and let the employees thrive and raise their moral. That way people will come into work happy and excited to sell. by giving them raises and promotions, greater outcome will follow. Such as meeting monthly goals.

Former Employee – worked at Guess? full-time
Pros – good environment if management team is knowlegeale and capable of recruiting, training and guiding staff in sales and meeting store standards
fun, fast paced environment
Cons – the most important variable in this store are your selling capabilities, so if your not willing to work for high sales per hour then retail of higher end stores is not for you.
Advice to Senior Management – hire people with experience, it was a real dissapointment to know more than assitant managers who were hired just to fill in positions.

Current Employee – been working at Guess? full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great benefits, management at the district level is GREAT, fun, fast paced environment, room for growth
Cons – We are often told to get ready for a corporate visit to our market, spend lots of hours and resources getting ready for this visit, corporate managers will show up, and only go to a fraction of the stores. This is very frustrating when you're the store manager already trying to balance a tight payroll budget and then using unnecessary hours and labor only to be disappointed.
Advice to Senior Management – If you say you're coming, SHOW UP. The expectation is that your managers will be forthcoming and honest with their intentions towards you, show us the same respect.

Former Employee – worked at Guess? part-time for less than a year
Pros – -Met lots of international customers
-Fun location

-They try hard to maintain a high energy environment
-Shifts were broken up nicely
Cons – -High pressured sales techniques
-Sometimes unrealistic sales quotas and conversion expectation
-There wasn't really much room for advancement or salary increases

Current Employee – been working at Guess? part-time for less than a year
Pros – I love the feeling of walking into work excited to achieve a new goal. You come into work with an enthusiasm to help people discover fashion through your eyes. Most people who work in retail are grumpy and never helpful but I found that a good attitude can get you far working here
Cons – The only downer is organization! Throughout the weeks there are many tasks to be done and its impossible for things to get done on time. whether its coverage or whatever...its just IMPOSSIBLE to complete certain task in a time period
Advice to Senior Management – Management is EVERYTHING, so without good leaders... followers will be lead astray. Management includes keeping everything in a good, organized, and FRIENDLY state. nasty attitudes never got good reactions...

Former Employee – worked at Guess? as an intern
Pros – Diverse, positive workplace.
Safe, gated parking in industrial side of Los Angeles.
Nice 401K.
Excellent facilities.
Denim samples are sewn in house making it a great place to experiment with denim.
Cons – Not a lot of opportunity to advance.
Womens denim department always stays after 5pm... long after the rest of the design departments have left.
Typical drama amongst upper management.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay more attention to your money makers. It never made sense to me why womens denim is such a smaller and underfunded design team than the others when its product makes the majority of the sales.
