    Pros

Great benefits and decent Pay. The sky is the limit and they will help you which ever way they can to accomplish your career goals. Good place to begin a career in management & leadership.

    Cons

Hours. Weekend and Holiday business. as a manager I could rarely take time to see my family. It is a work hard work hard environment. they will pat you on the back to say good job when you accomplish a goal and 10 seconds later tell you to do more and be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show more appreciation for hard work, be more flexible with time off to be with family, and store leaders need to be involved in the departments so you know what's going on in the store before you start pointing fingers and accusing of wrong doing.

My experience is that hard work will get you noticed at the store level, however it takes real people skills to advance.

    I have been working at H E B full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The culture is a great one, and there is recognition for achievements. The flexibility with scheduling is key to many partners' success, as many stores are open the majority of the day. The opportunity to make an impact in communities, and to be involved with a company with high moral standards is also very important in today's society.

    Cons

Cons would include low pay and compensation, and unclear expectations at times. Some seem to be celebrated, whiles others are not, and it seems to be a matter of salesman ship to determine which is which.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to upper management is to provide clear and concise feedback to those looking to advance their careers with the company, and to look at internal candidates more often as they are truly the ones who have a solid understanding of the business.

I have been working at H E B part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible hours if you're a student, opportunities for advancement, great pay in comparison to Kroger or any other retail job. Frequent raises and partner benefits (free food) HEB is expanding like crazy in Texas so you have many opportunities to be hired

    Cons

Busy part of the month means more hours but when it's slow you can be scheduled low hours especially if you're new, frequent evaluation of your performance if you're in service so that can feel like you're in trouble all of the time..no benefits if you're part time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Y'all are great!

    Pros

good hours, good salary, snacking on stuff, good work-school balance, manageable, advancement opportunities

    Cons

work on holidays, sometimes ask a lot from you when you are by yourself closing, customers can be very rude sometimes but be nice and you'll be okay, need more employees to close

  10.

    Decent first job

Former Employee - Customer Service Assistant
Former Employee - Customer Service Assistant

    I worked at H E B part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Management in my location was understanding. Coworkers were generally friendly. The managers kept everyone in the store busy. If there were no customers, we cleaned. This seems valuable.

    Cons

Pay was minimum wage for baggers (or customer service assistants to use the official title). Interviews were done in groups and were somewhat silly. Among the people working at the front of the store, there was a bit of a cultural divide between the older full time employees and the high school students working part-time before going off to college.

    I worked at H E B part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Management will work with you to create your own schedule, and you get to interact with many friendly people from many backgrounds

    Cons

There were not any real cons to working here, except a compensation at minimum wage jobs for people at checkout who interact with customers and load their cars with groceries

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up management! My boss was very friendly and easy to approach. The management cared about me as a worker and a person. Let this example guide all of your managers
