Competitive pay, flexible schedules for the most part. Great part-time and full-time benefits and partner incentitives. 10% off own brand savings plus monthly deals such as free items or extra discounts. Room to advance depending on management!

    I have been working at H E B part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Overall working here is a great opportunity. Training is not difficult, so it makes for a great first job for teens. The company is very involved in providing a great working environment and appreciates every employees work. For a teen or student, the pay is great. Scheduling is very flexible with the ability to pick up other shifts and give away your current ones.

    Cons

I imagine is varies on your workplace and management team, but at my store in particular we are offer short-staffed in the front end which requires you to perform double duties. The management team is not great in discipling other employees who are slacking off, which can be frustrating when you are forced to work harder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure the bagger to checker ratio is close to 1:1. Often there may be 20 lanes open, and only 8 baggers. Additionally ensure every partner is working equally as hard as the rest of the team.
