I worked at HCL Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

Did not interfere & let me take care of my project with client

    Cons

Did not even bother to provide an On-boarding to assimilate new FTE into company's culture & process. Dump freshers (that lack basic business or technology acumen) as experienced resources on project

    Advice to Management

Set the expectation & provide adequate training to freshers

    Pros

Opportunity to travel or relocate, allows plenty of time to ramp up in to new assignments, nature of outsourced work may allow you to work at the client's facilities.

    Cons

Widely spread out, your boss might be in India, and your mentor will be on the other side of the US. Managers treat you like you are someone else's "problem", and avoid your questions, then ask you why you haven't been productive. IT infrastructure is horrible, you can't download software to do your job and have to submit a special request to get anything installed. Help desk tickets for local problems travel to India and you might get a response that week, if you are lucky. This company is so dedicated to information security that they sacrifice employee productivity.

    Advice to Management

Be open and honest with your employees. Hire more local IT specialists.

    Pros

It all depends on the project. The project I worked had flexible office hours. Few of my friends projects, the situation was very hectic. They had to work weekends.

    Cons

It is like government office. They keep you in bencj for years and throw you out.

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to move and experience technology in new parts of the country.

    Cons

Hard to get compensation or reimbursement for money spent on relocation and travel. Communication is with individuals from India so it's almost impossible to communicate with them and get issues resolved.

    Advice to Management

Technical help could be more accommodating so that everyday tasks can be complete.

    Pros

It's good IT experience until you find something better. Some projects or groups are better to work on than others. If you get hired, I hear the benefits are decent, but the pay is low.

    Cons

They have gotten a ton of new corporate IT support contracts because they under bid other companies. The work load is not more with less, it's more with a lot less. They're an IT contractor that uses a lot of sub contractors.

    Pros

Most, and I express MOST of the people are good to work with.

    Cons

No recognition of doing a good job, 3 days avg of training on a specific job before " go live date" of a project. Bounced around to different desks, projects, groups. Leads and managers are not listening to concerns. Oh, and HR does not communicate well when asked a simple question.

    Advice to Management

Projects can't survive if there is inadequate training and managers/supervisors don't listen to subject experts.
