ProsIf performance is good, then fast track growth is possible.
Freedom to make your decision is given

    HCL as an employer

Project Manager (Current Employee) Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)

ProsTo date I have been very pleased with my position at HCL. The company employs very talented individuals and assistance is at hand if required for everything relating to work and much more. Employees have been given the opportunity to raise their ideas and be rewarded if implemented and the on-line training package available to all is excellent. In my time with the company, HCL have received fantastic reviews from the client.

ConsSometimes there can be a language barrier especially in the terminology used in emails between the many nationalities employed by HCL. This is just a very minor issue which results in more emails generated between staff until the wording is fully understood.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would try and make the promotion chain much clearer as some staff do not find out why they have not been promoted in my experience. HR should be able to advise to staff why they have not been promoted rather than make it a long journey for a reason.

    My experience with HCL

ProsA lot of freedom. Good for self driven people.

ConsNot "global" enough. Run by Indians for the Indians.

    Take ownership and drive success

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

Pros- Good place for individuals who like to take charge; if you need to be told what to do, do not join HCL
    - Mistakes can be made and accepted as part of learning process

Cons- Weak Business HR function, unnecessarily heavy in support functions - slows down decision making and higher general administrative spend
    - High level of politics and friction in middle management across different business units - low collaboration between groups/business units

Advice to Senior Management- Encourage growth of technocrats & customer facing employees and not people managers

    Excellent

Senior Testing Engineer (Current Employee) Leeds, England (UK)

ProsCustomer second and Employee first company. One of the good pay masters in India in IT sector. Employee freindly company.

ConsNeed to travel and should be able to work from any location in India or abroad. If you want to work from single location and not will to travel then HCL is not the right place.
