I worked at HCL Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Challenging assignments, no micro-management by boss, on-the-job learning, empowerment at role level, world-class people programs, can expect to be given constructive feedback for improvement. High growth

    Cons

Not very process driven, hence quite chaotic; sometimes, it's a matter of 'who shouts loudest wins'. work life balance suffers at times. challenges associated with high growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nurture a more inclusive culture given the diversity of the employee force. Be more relevant to the local communities in the countries of operation

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Complete freedom to work as you plan to. Not much senior leadership pressure. Job security is high and the concept of layoffs is unheard of in HCL. Mentoring is very good based on projects. Opportunities within the company for inter and intra project/domain jumping is high.

    Cons

    Yoy salary hikes are less.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivation at the project level is really important. Management can do that via revised/enhanced HR policies. Performance hikes can be made way better....

    Pros

If performance is good, then fast track growth is possible.
Freedom to make your decision is given
Senior management from both sales and delivery support you
Many processes enable you to go beyond expected goals and motivate you. This benefits both company and employee.

    Cons

Salary aspect is a concern. If compared with other standard service companies, it is okay.
Certain policies need to be revised as they are not employee friendly.

Current Employee - Project Manager in Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

To date I have been very pleased with my position at HCL. The company employs very talented individuals and assistance is at hand if required for everything relating to work and much more. Employees have been given the opportunity to raise their ideas and be rewarded if implemented and the on-line training package available to all is excellent. In my time with the company, HCL have received fantastic reviews from the client.

    Cons

Sometimes there can be a language barrier especially in the terminology used in emails between the many nationalities employed by HCL. This is just a very minor issue which results in more emails generated between staff until the wording is fully understood.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would try and make the promotion chain much clearer as some staff do not find out why they have not been promoted in my experience. HR should be able to advise to staff why they have not been promoted rather than make it a long journey for a reason.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in London, England (UK)

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good place for individuals who like to take charge; if you need to be told what to do, do not join HCL
    - Mistakes can be made and accepted as part of learning process

    Cons

    - Weak Business HR function, unnecessarily heavy in support functions - slows down decision making and higher general administrative spend
    - High level of politics and friction in middle management across different business units - low collaboration between groups/business units

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Encourage growth of technocrats & customer facing employees and not people managers
