I worked at HCL Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Only good for peoples with 2/3 years of experience who can get global onsite exposure

    Cons

Typical Indian company. Too much favor ism. Promotions are based upon who you know. Very poor benefits, no growth opportunity. Onsite team will blindly follow customer policies and processes while at offshore, they will keep claiming that they have their own processes and make customer follow these.

It happens because some incapable guys got promoted without the real knowledge because he / she knew a big boos or delivery uni head. And, it is spoiling the whole company

No say in front of customer in my 11 years with HCL. They will say yes to whatever customer says without analyzing the impact and make their people work day and night. Work quality they get from customers for low prices is also not good, very poor.

Very few technical people around, everyone wants to be a manager without learning what is needed for the job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your own people and employees. Plan a real career for them and improve training. Their training are designed for freshers which they will teach even the experienced ones and the training management will claim they trained 1 million people, without actually teaching them anything practical. Training people will do this for their own appraisal I think.

    Pros

Free coffee. Friendly environment. Good starter job.

    Cons

Indian based company. Many of the company rules or the way the company is ran is based off of how an Indian company is ran. HR is non existent. Forget moving up in company unless your Indian. Transactions in company take months. Refer a friend bonus on paper exist, but in reality you will never get paid. I referred 3 people, and out of the year I was there never saw a dime. Its not uncommon for you to not receive your normal pay. There is an employees first motto, but out of the year I was there I never saw that once. While working there the attitude of everyone even the bosses, was continue to work until we can find something better. I know of 2 people in the company who actually moved up from Tier 1 to something hire, and they were before I was hired. When an HCL Tech Tier 2 job would open up in the US. I would be quickly filled by a person in India to cut down cost. Chances for advancement were slim to none. Not to mention the mediocre pay. The turn around rate for employees there is unbelievable. In the year that I was there no one who was hired with me still worked in HCL. Over all the company is new here in America. They have a lot of growing to do. I'm sure they can turn that around, but currently in my opinion it is a terrible company, unless your Indian.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over all the company is new here in America. They have a lot of growing to do and changes that need to be made for US employees to be happy. I'm sure they can turn that around, but currently in my opinion it is a terrible company, unless your Indian.

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This place is great for learning straight out of college or getting your foot into the IT field.
You get the ability to work with huge, big-name companies like Deutsche Bank, Gulfstream, and USAA among others.
Fantastic level 1 support network. I have yet to see a project where the analysts didn't work as a team and ask each other questions to grow further.
Best advice I can offer: Work with the people immediately around you. Help each other out and you can grow. Try to be creative and diligent in finding solutions. Not all of them are written down or are straight forward. Be flexible: If you say you have an open schedule, don't be surprised when it comes in to play. Most projects here are 24/7 and require nights and/or weekends.

    Cons

Compensation: way below average. Raises are minimal at best.
Office Politics: Desk leads and managers, this will eat you alive. Prepare to take the blame for anything coming down the pipe.
India controls all: Remember, if a call comes down to you or a manager in Noida, you will always lose.
Morale and growth: Diminishes at the hands of some college grad with a spreadsheet that stays in HQ (based in Noida). Beware, this company is after their bottom line and will do what it takes to maintain that.
Lack of accountability: I saw way too many scenarios where the sales team would promise the world to a client but would not be held accountable by the company when it was impossible to deliver. This also fell for the delivery side of the fence where the delivery managers would provide a solution but would fail to lead the effort in following through on said effort.
Prepare for this place to act like an IT sweatshop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanaging. Loosen the grip you have on GEOs and let them improvise and innovate. The attrition rate will continue to be high and morale will continue to destroy these projects if you don't let up a little.
Managers getting hired were taking anywhere from $20k-$40k/yr cuts to work here.
At the moment, there is no incentive to be at work. You brag about the billion dollar profits received each year. Try using that to provide a morale boost to your employees every once in a while.

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

For my group, management was very hands off. No micromanagement at all. Learned a lot about different technology trends and gained a lot of experience meeting with clients and presenting well.

    Cons

Hcl has a very poor product development capability. There is less focus on product development and too much on sales. They basically expected the team to be able to sell crap by tinkering too much with the truth even by IT industry standards. There is also very little investment in product development. Some products only had 1 to 5 devs! Maybe HCL will eventually develop a competent product development capability but it isn't there right now.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to put more focus on product development instead of relying too much on a PowerPoint to sell crap. You also need to invest more and hire the engineering talent needed to develop the products.

I have been working at HCL Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible management to balance family emergencies with work requirements. In the past always provided choices for next assignment.

    Cons

Limited work-life balance over last 2 years. Company DNA of Employee First is lost. Compensation is consistently below market, and even though company is experiencing double-digit growth, raises have ceased.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revise compensation to market, and bring back Employee First DNA.

I worked at HCL Technologies full-time

    Pros

HCL has the best healthcare benefits of any company I have ever worked for and they will let you learn if you don't know something. For that I thank them. But this is the way the SHOULD be, not that they should be rewarded for doing what is right.

    Cons

At HCL the pay is SO low you will have to cut your living WAY back to just survive. And, even though they had an increase in revenue last year of over 20% (billions), they only handed out a max of 5% increase to their BEST employees in the USA. The responding anger from their employees and loss of contracts has been expected result.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your great healthcare is exceptional and your emphasis on taking care of family is exceptional but this is what ALL companies SHOULD be doing. So your use of the motto "Employee First" to get employees is deceptive and wrong when you don't follow through with that promise by ensuring people can LIVE on the pay you give them. People cannot be expected to live on LESS each year. When YOUR COMPANY benefits so should your employees. MAKE IT RIGHT OR YOU WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL.

    Pros

The people that work there are the only good things about the company.

    Cons

Very poor pay for IT Desktop Support, if you are applying for this think you will get paid alot then keep looking. local desktop support is severely underpaid for the amount of work you do, my advicx get on a project so you can at least pay your bills.
