    Pros

flexible work hours, many locations around the country, great people, focused on health and wellness, business casual clothing, focused on the customer experience

    Cons

things change often, high turnover in management, costly medical benefit plan, high deductible, hard to achieve bonus due to high growth targets

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

focus more on employee moral and satisfaction, need greater visibility to career path planning, would like better less expensive benefits

    Pros

Immediate paid vacation & sick time, opportunities to advance. Company appears to care about the health and well being of employees and offers many programs to assist those values.

    Cons

The pay is above minimum wave, more like medium range, but you are stuck there for a long time. Yearly raises aren't really that great, and the company is going downhill since they've become publicly traded. Management doesn't seem to care about the opinions of employees and often make poorly informed decisions that they end up retracting later because of it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the people that actually do the job. You'll find out where the weaknesses are.

    Pros

I really liked the company and my team. We had great collaboration and could speak our minds. More often than not our concerns were addressed and reasons given for why we went in the direction we did. I was afforded many opportunities for getting widespread work experience.

    Cons

While I was there I was told repeatedly that I was overdue for a promotion by my management team. The red tape for promotion and entrenched management made forward progress very difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you cannot promote a valuable employee, put something in place that allows for economic progress to show how they are valued.

    Pros

Great benefits, no weekends, normal 9-5. Pay is good, not great. Managers seem to always be fair and understanding. Field sales has a lot of freedom. Solid company, leader in the facilities maintenance industry.

    Cons

Moving up can be difficult, company was growing fast 3 years ago but after we went public everything hit a plateau. Company is nepotistic. Micromanaging is obnoxious. Cross department communication is poor

    Pros

Good people to work with, willing to work with you. Company interested in good work-life balance

    Cons

Within a month of being hired they had a RIF and laid us off. Not enough time to really formulate much of an opinion but this was very hard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider alternatives to just letting people go, perhaps giving them an opportunity for other positions open in the company.

I have been working at HD Supply full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay is decent, co workers are okay overall , getting new equipment, okay health insurance. Opportunity to buy stock in company.

    Cons

Current management is only concerned about numbers not the staff. There has been a total purge of management ( good and bad managers were let go ). Management really doesn't have a clue about what goes on in the field. High rate of on the job injuries and management blames staff for getting hurt. All parts of the DC are under staffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to needs of the staff, especially why injuries are occurring. Stop worrying about why the numbers are low and pay more attention what is working and build on it. Add more staff and get them trained properly, not just thrown out there. Hire good and knowledgeable supervisors, not your friends.

I worked at HD Supply full-time

    Pros

Fairly compensated. Good work/life balance. Family atmosphere once you are accepted by the old-timers. Good time-off policy with floating holidays, wellness day, and 10 days of PTO. A lot of growth and opportunities. Very stimulating projects and initiatives with plenty areas for improvement.

    Cons

Slight change in culture after the IPO. Health benefits went from "alright" to "bad". Multiple rounds of layoffs since IPO including executive members. Work/life balance on a down turn after lay-offs with a lot of the workload being dropped on "survivors". A lot of turnover, especially with contractors, resulting in delays of deliverables.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't lose sight of your core values. Go back to walking the talk. Choosing not to share any more than that cause it will fall on deaf ears.
