    I worked at HSBC GLT

    Pros

Very social atmosphere. Every one discuss every thing other then work. Very enjoying and fun loving crowd!!
No pressure of following org specific process.
Good onsite opportunities if you are at good terms with managers. You can also look for permanent transfers to other locations like Canada and UK.

    Cons

Impossible to switch the technology. Same thing for years will come in your way.
Impossible to change the project. Going to spend full employment under same manager. If you ask for change, your year end rating is gone.
Appraisal system is useless. Manager will bluntly talk nonsense and say do what ever you want to do, you will get this only. No evaluation system. All on personal preference.

    Pros

Fun loving company. Lots of events.
Best company if you want money with no work.
Work life balance depends on project and manager.
Weekend working not encouraged by many managers.
Hikes and annual variable pay is good.

    Cons

Techies - pls dont join hsbc. You will forget your technical skills if you stay here for a year.
Initial stage of projects is taken very lightly and in later stages everyone has to work extra hours.
Very less onsite opportunites. Visa gets rejected for software engineers as onsite allowance+salary total does not meet the UK government's minimum salary to survive. Onsite allowance not revised since 2007.
Technically very less work. Process and environments take up a lot time.
Lot of hierarchy which is not actually required.
There is no single point of contact who knows end to end of any project.
Contract to hire has spread its root because of hsbc group's CEO. Company does not care if any employee is willing to leave hsbc. He is immediately replaced by a contract employee.
    Attrition rate is very high.

I have been working at HSBC GLT full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is better than Service based companies
    Good Training facilities
    Good CSR Initiatives
    Good Work-Life Balance

    Cons

Management is worse and doesn't take care of employees feedback. Biasing is more prominent here. In the recent past, HSBC has lost its sheen with its new startegies towards employees. Attrition rate is too high.
You will end up not having any growth if your team size is too big and manager gives you excuses every time you ask him/her.
Dont have proper support team and dev team ends up supporting projects.
Going to onsite is worst as you wont earn enough money and end up working 12-14 hours a day.
Onsite team is worst here. Very rude behavior towards offshore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please make sure managers dont do biasing at work and recognise right talent and compensate them accordingly, rather than giving excuses telling no enough fund, team is too big, and cant satisfy everyone. This will definitely control attrition.
Even VP is not paid fairly as per rules.

    4) Can Learn Banking domain

    Cons

    1) Managers are partial and don't know any thing technical. They are supposed to do only functional things at times.
    2) Lots of politics due to bad rating policy. They call it (70 20 10) policy.
    3) If you don't get a good project then company change is the only option.
    4) Too much manager driven, HR play no role.
    5) Very difficult to change project, most IJP's are fake. Its easy to change a company.

    7) Hires from any engineering college , need smart & techy people.
    8) No Bench.
