I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Global banking organization with opportunities for secondments and advancement. During my time with the organization (7+ years), the company "owned" its issues and seemed to attempt to deal with its problems.

    Cons

The US operations still appears to be a group of separate businesses (with "us" and "them" attitudes) so even at a country-level it felt like working for different companies.

    Pros

Terrific global presence, especially in Europe. The international opportunities are plentiful and their support of international management and training programs is very strong. Solid and competitive pay. Excellent Work life balance.

    Cons

HSBC's recent decision to reduce their North American footprint and consolidate global business models has significantly reduced its domestic opportunities. Perhaps in a few more years, once their domestic strategy has taken shape, the US will again be a vibrent outlook for HSBC employees.

I worked at HSBC Holdings full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

HSBC had a good corporate culture overall. Employee growth was encouraged through company paid trainings, as well as, tuition assistance. There were good benefits, quarterly financial incentives, and a decent time off program.

    Cons

Upgrades were not always communicated properly creating user issues and problems within the department that was responsible for resolving them. Favoritism within certain groups pulled down team morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop letting your personal dislike impact your employee's reviews.
