    I worked at HSN

    Pros

It was close to Tampa. There was some opportunities for research to make an impact. Senior management was in a different place

    Cons

Sweat shop- no true care for employees. Was a time when there was a lot of transitions as an organization

I worked at HSN full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some really great people that can teach you a great deal about this industry. You will also get the opportunity to meet some important industry celebs and company owners. The discounts and gratis doesn't suck either.

    Cons

There are lots of bad apples. And it's difficult to identify who they are right away. The HR department is practically corrupt. They do not follow the Labor Laws and really are not on the employee's side. Be warned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Protect and value your employees as much as you value the company itself.

    Pros

decent pay for not having a degree of any sort

    Cons

Tyrannical system, bad hours, recently knocked down training from 7 weeks to 2, and coming out of a 7 week training, i still felt under prepared, can only imagine only 2 weeks!!

I have been working at HSN full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    VERY few
-Benefits are ok overall as far as PTO (but good luck getting it when you want it), etc.
-Good employee discount (but I refuse to shop here due to low morals)
    -Pay isn't terrible

    Cons

You should not work here if you are a human and not a robot. I am an EXTREMELY hardworking, dedicated individual who has always excelled at every job I had and have been promoted. Here, there is terrible work/life balance, your schedule is so inflexible as well as time paid off etc (it's hard to get it even months in advance), and they just generally treat you like dirt. I don't know how else to say it. I am a positive person who tends to always see the best, but this is a job where you will end up in tears, frustrated, and hating work, dreading going in before it is even Monday. Trust me: don't do it!! Morale is TERRIBLE from the company. They cheat UPS' postal rates constantly and have shady policies that put the customer and the rep in bad situations. Not a place for classy people with morals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some class. Treat people like humans and not robots! Be honest, decent people.

I worked at HSN full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Holiday time, free samples, employee discount-that's it!

    Cons

They will make you think it's the place to be, that "it's fun here", which could not be further from the truth! A sad excuse of a workplace. Management cares about nobody. Advancement and raises are non-existent. Women and Men behaving badly, these are the people that get promoted in this cult. What a horrible experience. You will see that most positive ratings are from work at home associates. The rating should actually be MUCH lower. The longer you are away, the more and more you realize just how nuts this place actually is!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Untrained, unprofessional, rude, greedy, people. A toxic leadership at this company, fire them all and get fresh people who give a damn. The turnover is outrageous, come on HR!!!!

    I worked at HSN

    Pros

Discount, vacation days, holiday pay, sick days, emplorium set on campus, available to shop at any day of the week.

    Cons

Zero advancement unless you are willing to brown nose everyone you meet. Entry level jobs in buying are heavily relied upon, with extreme responsibilities. Do not mess up, there is no room for error in this company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop blaming the little people for every single mistake, bad training leads employees to mess up on the job.

I have been working at HSN full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

HSN as organization is a great place to work for.
They truly care about employees work life balance however if you are applying for IT dept please read below.

    Cons

Lot of politics in IT dept.
Desi people in senior management role think it is not cool to have other desis promoted and for them directly so they promote even very mediocre Americans to middle management just to look cool but they hire desis in low level development and testing roles and squeeze them with green card dream.
Promotions are not based on your performance but it based on what your boss's boss's boss heard about you in the grapevine. They do not want set SMART goals because then they can't play favorites and they will not be able determine what one did in an entire year based on some big wigs perception.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you truly want make improvements to the process then bring 360 degree feedback on managers including senior management.

    Pros

Benefits and PTO time, thats all.

    Cons

Micromanagement, clueless management, lieing, self centered management. They only care about their bonuses and falsifying information to look good..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need new management who has a clue about what is really going on on that campus. Security there is a joke, it is the worst out sourced security company on record and to safe a buck to get a bigger bonus. The contract employees are stealing this place blind. This place is the most toxic, unprofessional place you could ever work. Stay away!!

    Pros

Great benefits and working with great people... oh wait I don't really work at the HSN office so that could be why I work with awesome people.

    Cons

They buy out small companies assuring us the owner who is selling that they would not shut us down. Guess what business is booming and they are shutting us down. Why to save a few pennies by shipping out of the Midwest and paying them less. Fantastic. If you want to know why America sucks this is why big companies like this one screwing the little guys. Guess back to the unemployment line for me huh

I worked at HSN part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The ability to add/trade hours with coworkers

    Cons

I was afraid that the over-excitement and positive attitudes by the trainers were a gimmick and, unfortunately, that was the case.

I had five supervisors during my eight months with the company, all of which gave me grossly
    different information about business expectations.

It was not uncommon to go two weeks without a reply from a supervisor or HR. You are not important to anyone there and will be completely ignored.

    Weekends are required.

Call volumes are insanely high. Literally no time to take a breath during calls.

Show hosts constantly lie about the amount of stock left. Reps are urged to avoid the truth, as well.

The amount of stress is ridiculous for such a low-paying job. This is not a job you can leave at work. Customers making lewd, sexual comments, screaming elderly ladies, no-contact from superiors, isolation. It's far too much.

There are other work at home outlets out there. You will not be happy at HSN.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Uproot supervisors and replace them with people who actually work and supervise. Decrease call volumes.
