    Pros

Great benefits, flexible time off. For the most my co-workers are a great group of people who work well together (despite leadership issues). LOVE the employee discount and employee store!!

    Cons

lack of leadership by supervisors and leadership. Pay is low and does not match the workload. Inconsistencies in job expectations and certain individuals abuse the FMLA program.

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros

People are friendly and leadership appears to take an interest in their employees. There is an appreciation of work/Life balance. Overall it's a good place to start and get some experience and then move on.

    Cons

Too much emphasis on tenure over talent when it comes to promotions but they put up a front that every qualified candidate is considered. in the end it's usually the person who has been there the longest and often times it becomes clear there was really no consideration for any other candidate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start to consider an individual's talent and experience outside of HSN instead of focusing on how long they have been there. The job market is starting to improve and you will lose talented people who will find better opportunities elsewhere.

Work at home. No work clothes or lunch to pack. Comfort of my home/desk and office

    Cons

Antiquated operating system. Silly cross checks with time on phones. Paying for my own internet/phone service

Current Employee - Customer Service Hybrid in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros

The pay, benefits, and access to helpful information relevant to your job are big pros! The environment is not bad (indoors, air conditioned, nice chairs) but nothing to brag about.

    Cons

They will paint this job as something awesome when you first start out, don't believe everything they say. Some customers make you want to pull your hair out, others you'll want to help but the supervisors will in turn make you want to pull your hair out due to the limitations on what can be done in specific situations that seem to arise more often than they make them seem. Serious lack of upward mobility, I've applied for multiple jobs after being with the company for a year and there always seems to be some qualification that you don't meet yet they 'forgot' to list on the job requirements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be great if the general environment could be improved at the call center, gray and white walls with 2/3 of the florescent lights burnt out is king of depressing. Also there really should be better communication between departments! We're always being given contradicting statements from one department or the other.

Current Employee - Live Show Production  in  Saint Petersburg, FL
Current Employee - Live Show Production in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros

Amazing colleagues and an energizing fast paced atmosphere. There's no delaying the clock. Ready or not the show must go on.

    Cons

Management may try to establish timelines and policies but everyone including most importantly our vendors know we can't say no if our decision could potentially inhibit sales. We live to sell- and leaders may talk a big game about turning late support down but they will always bend to make money. Unfortunately this enables all HSN vendors to ignore deadlines and turn in support later and later with absolutely zero repercussions. Sales pay our salaries but it sure would be nice to hold a vendor accountable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Establish parameters and keep them. Vendors must follow the rules. Make exceptions the exception. Enable your talented rank and file to make decisions. 100 percent tops down mentality wastes HSN talent.

Current Employee - Senior Leader  in  Saint Petersburg, FL
Current Employee - Senior Leader in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros

For a St. Pete company, at a lower level position, this is a great place to work.
Great benefits including PTO, health and community service
Beautiful campus with wellness programs offered
Many very nice people working there.
Although I'm not sure about the more entry level positions, the pay at the mid to senior level positions is very competitive.
In many cases, if you get the right position, you don't need to be great or really perform and you can still make it work by getting lost in the crowd or aligning yourself with the right people.

    Cons

Completely agree with another comment that the cliques are worse than high school and this starts at the very top.
A lot of very mediocre mid to senior level management that stifle opportunities - not only for individual growth but also for corporate growth.
Many members of mid to senior level management get to stay there because they have been there for years and are entrenched or they suck up to the right people.
As I mentioned the campus is very nice, the newly renovated tower is gorgeous, the visuals on screen are also great, but at the end of the day, it's all window dressing and optics. At the core, I felt like there was a lack of depth here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach - you need fresh new ideas in order to carry this business model into the future (but ideas that make sense and are tested with real performance metrics and not pet projects or projects involving celebs or other well-liked people.
You need some bright talented senior management that is able to perform and then give them the leash to perform and make them accountable to specific performance metrics.
Enough with the sycophants! Yes, they may be "tiggers" but they are telling you what you want to hear not doing what needs to be done.

Former Employee - Customer Service Hybrid in Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros

My supervisor and trainers were amazing people. They really tried to help if you were having issues.

    Cons

Call times to strict and standards are difficult to meet. Watched people who worked at the company for 20+ years get fired due to call times. NO ROOM FOR ADVANCEMENT!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management and the executives should take a week on the phones and see what a day in the life of a Customer Service Rep is like.
