    Treated well, paid average.

    Technical Advisor (Current Employee)
    New Orleans, LA

ProsBenefits are great, stock purchase plan is a bonus, 401K and matching program is competitive. A safe company that treats you well.

ConsPay leaves something to be desired. Would love more time off.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore distinct career path for engineers, pay raises.

    Educational and diverse

    Lab Tech (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsGreat benefits, up to 5-6% 401K match after 2 or 3 yrs. No bonus. Safety is number one. Train on the job and easy access to sources and processes. No night time management as of now (but beware a couple people who will call the manager to complain if not everyone is pulling their weight.)

ConsLower pay than other companies. Micromanaged. Current manager nit-picks EVERYTHING and is dis-honest and will say whatever it takes to get what he wants. PE and Cmt have no budget to work with. Can only be rated up to one level above your current role. Unable to market yourself in the lab, as you have very limited exposure. Very hard to move up because the company only wants to hire new college Engineer grads, won't promote Lab Techs. Schedule has changed THREE times in less than two years. Hours have been cut so cannot make the overtime to truly compensate the lower pay.

    Highly political

    Senior Project Manager (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsWork life balance, good proximity to suburbs in the west and south west of houston, away from downtown and galleria, competitive compensation

ConsHighly political environment with very limited growth opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementIntroduce skip meetings to get feedback about mid level managers and focus on quality of work from an individual rather than candidate's good looks and talking ability.

    Supply Chain

    Associate Technical Professional (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsGreat opportunities abroad in all different locations. Compensation in expat benefits competes to be the best in the industry. Work life balance will be sacrificed when first starting out, but that is the case at most companies. In supply chain, they promote from within and quickly - if you log in the time and commitment, it doesn't go unnoticed.

ConsOverall strategy is weak between field operations and supply chain. however leadership is working to change this and change can be noticed. While Halliburton promotes fast and quickly, sometimes the change management process can be difficult to adapt to when you manager is changing once to twice a year.

Advice to Senior Managementbetter integration from field to supply chain/manufacturing.

    Technical Professional

    Technical Professional (Current Employee)
    Lafayette, LA

ProsTime off schedule is great, flexible working hours within my department are nice. Direct management cares about employees and makes sure they are happy. Benefits are very good.

ConsSometimes you have to work weekends offshore. Base pay could be a little higher. Having to be on call means it is very hard to schedule events without taking vacation for them.

Large company with alot of options.

    Technical Professional (Current Employee)
    Alvarado, TX

ProsExperience is good from a big company. Benefits are good along with employee stock purchase program. Many different areas of oilfield services available to work in.

ConsLarge company that is slow moving to get anything done. New hire process and training program was very unorganized. Pay is lower than market average. Work/life balance is more work less life. Comes with the territory of the job and hiring managers let you know this well before you are given a job offer.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove efficiency within the company. Improve training program for engineers.

Halliburton has been good to me!!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Houston, TX

ProsOpportunity to work with people that I truly like and enjoy. It's a family atmosphere.

ConsCompensation isn't great. You have to put in at least 5 years or kill yourself out in the field before you see any real money. If you don't fight for it, you won't get it...i.e. raise, training, time off, etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementEngineers and technical personnel are not the only high performers in the company. Encourage everyone to succeed
