    Pros

Great opportunity and benefits. They provided great safety training. They also provided CDL training.

    Cons

Oil prices dictate the amount of work for the company and unfortunately there was a reduction in workforce and I was laid off. Long hours subject to the weather make for great overtime, but make it difficult to be home at a regular time to help with family life. Halliburton did take away the paid week off that I was receiving when first hired. They also reduced the per diem from $35 down to $25 per day.

    Advice to Management

Use a carrot instead of a stick. If you need to take a benefit away from employees to shore up profits or stock prices, do so by providing some chance for EEs to get a return on their sacrifice. Example, give EEs stock options in lieu of paid week off. This would have allowed EEs to recoup some money if/when the move paid off. The chose not to do so and just removed the paid week off from EEs.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, salary is fair, job bonuses compensate nicely. You learn about the drilling processes and formations.

    Cons

When your rig is drilling you are working. Most of the time you spend long periods of time away from home. Drilling is usually the first to see reduction of work when energy markets are week.

    Advice to Management

Continue providing great support to field staff, ask for input from team members. Value the employees of all levels.

    Pros

Great health benefits. Stock option is nice. Pay is above market. Plenty of training is available. While some positions can be limited in terms of advancement, there are plenty of options to move into different departments and transfer anywhere in the world that Halliburton has a presence in.

    Cons

Unstable market at the moment. Tough to get in. You will work long hours and deal with unfirendly people at times.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward. We are moving in the right direction and even though the market is unstable, we are still staying busy.

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly co-workers, decent pay, even better job security. It's relatively organized and the mentor system is great. It's very easy to get help when you need it and everyone is always looking out for each other. It's overall a very safe place to work

    Cons

Long work hours, isolation, limited communication when on locations due to poor signal receiption. The weather can be extreme sometimes -hot and cold depending on what location you work at.

    Advice to Management

Better signal boosters to increase cell phone and data coverage in rural areas. Cooling vests when working in 100 degree weather.
