    I worked at Halliburton

    Pros

Great Training program, launch point for getting into the oil field. Excellent benefits. Strong safety record, an emphasize on safety training. Larger 3rd party contractor, tend to keep more work than others during down times. Some great people working there.

    Cons

Pay is below average in terms of Annual, and day rate not always made up for with the other benefits. While there is some great training, you're inundated with paperwork, need to find a balance between necessary and helpful paperwork/safety training and overwhelming employees, especially with redundant paperwork. Some not so great people. As with any job, some of the managers know how to manage and some don't, typical oilfield in that those who get promoted not always best for job, but may be well liked by the right people. No better or worse than other OG companies in that regard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Align pay with other companies so you don't spend thousands in training and then lose those trained employees to other companies, especially base salary. Reduce redundancies in paperwork. Management training for Coordinators as they have huge control over the lives of field hands, show them how to exercise balance, and how to communicate without being offensive.

    I worked at Halliburton

    Pros

The benefits are really good and they also provide a rewards program along with local discounts.

    Cons

They are cut throat when laying off people. You are not allowed to pack your own things or say good bye to your coworkers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees...stop paying high dollar for contract workers.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity when things are going well for the industry. Pretty decent salaries for the most part. Very good benefits. Company fosters a culture of pride.

    Cons

Huge company. Lots of frustrating inefficiency. Many things don't make sense . You only have the capacity to impact so much as an individual employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to basics. We are a service company and we are here to serve our customers. We get too caught up in our own internal processes and lose focus of why we are in business. Reward the employees that do well. Many of our quality employees we lose to our customers or competitors. Tremendous amount of skills an knowledge is lost this way..

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Lot's of hours and good benefits. Had a great boss and lead and a nice team.

    Cons

Schedule makes it very difficult to have a family life/marriage. Low base pay, although plenty (actually more) hours at time and a half. It's really the schedule though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut the unnecessary hours and pay a higher wage. The company pays the same money out, gets the same work done, employee spends more time at home. Everyone fat and happy.
