I have been working at Halliburton full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a very large company with presence all over the world. There is scope to go as high and as far as you want if you are prepared to put in the effort.

    Cons

Being a large company you are one of thousands and subject to top down policies that can chop and change and be restrictive.

I worked at Halliburton full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Though not paid wonderfully compared to the national average for my education and experience, for the area the compensation was excellent. Until the organization goes through a management change (every few years), the message from management on what to focus on stays relatively constant. The local management was quite flexible for personal needs .I was given the leeway to get done what needed to get done.

    Cons

As with any company in the oil industry, it is cyclical and at times goes through massive layoffs to decrease cost when money is tight. Sometimes the design teams and field personnel are resistant to change even when introducing cost efficiencies into the program.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Training opportunities are plenty. They try do protect their employees in downturns. Active and challenging working environment with no discrimination.

    Cons

Salary is lower than industry average. Altough still ber comparable to other service companies. Bonus amount is defined by revenue of that month. Not by the performance of the individual.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Due to the size of the company, you enjoy greaterg job stability than smaller companies. They do a good job of training and supporting their employees.

    Cons

As with any large company, you have to deal with a lot of bloated beaurocratic paperwork and policies. You trade higher pay for stability...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot of experienced engineers could be retained by becoming more competitive in pay scale.

I have been working at Halliburton full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Halliburton is a great place to work. There are endless opportunities to move up in the organization. Senior management is excellent and understands what happens in the trenches. The company invests in its people and equipment.

    Cons

There can be some politics. Health plans have been stripped down some. You have to move around to move up, this isn't for everyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the push to ensure process assurance and keep investing in people and equipment.
