Former Employee – worked at Hamilton Sundstrand full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good people, stimulating work, opportunities to advance exist for those who want to go get them.
Cons – Promotions must be sought out as they are not actively looking to promote from within but it is none-the-less a great company to work for.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on promoting from within and doing so ahead of a defined schedule from HR for those that are high performers. I saw many of my friends complete graduate school and then move on right away due to advancement issues following graduation.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Hamilton Sundstrand as an intern for less than a year
Pros – The company pays very well, has perks, and has tons of room for growth opportunities. UTC is such a massive company that you cant help but to find a division you want to work for between all of their subsidiaries. The internship program is outstanding. The experience you gain truly will be the difference maker between you and another candidate for an open position. Cant rave about the internship program enough. If you work hard, you'll be recognized
Cons – If you want to stay ahead of the game and do a thorough job on your assignments, you need to put in the time. You'll be working over 40 hours a week (i think OT is paid for full timers but not 100%.) Assignments can be overwhelming
Advice to Senior Management – Fix up the HR side of Hamilton. They frequently screw important things up that have serious consequences.

To fully enjoyed and be proficient at your job.

Current Employee – been working at Hamilton Sundstrand
Pros – This company allows unlimited overtime for anyone interested. They also support flexible work hours for thos with special needs. Best of all they pay for full educational assistance and provide a bonus for completing a degree. They also have an on-site wellness center provided for the employees at no additional charge. This is great for those looking to slim up but that don't have the time or commitment to attend a local gym. Also don't forget the many corporate discounts provided by the company by partnering with other large corporations.
Cons – This is a manufacturing environment with the usual interpersonal conflicts associated with large groups of diverse peoples.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work, and lets get our processes working the way they should.

Current Employee – been working at Hamilton Sundstrand
Pros – The environment is very friendly and engaging. The managers we're friendly and helpful, the workload was distributed with specific instructions and left team members confident in the goals of the tasks assigned
Cons – Depending on certain milestones, working overtime was mandatory becuase of such heavy workloads. Working here wasn't peftect as no company is perfect, but the mangers I worked with did their best in making the work organized and comfortable.
Advice to Senior Management – I think that everyone in management positions should hold workshops on holding effective meetings so that eveyone knows what the current objective of the meetings are.

Pros – Great training ground for engineers. Continuing Education benefits are world-class (tuition paid 100% toward any degree). 401K plan has 6% match. Still offers a pension. Work-life balance respected and flexible hours accomodated. People who leave, keep coming back. Opportunities for transfer to any United Technologies Corporation (UTC - parent company) division and take all your benefits with you (e.g. pension).
Cons – Medical benefits are poor-average. The best way to get ahead is to move into management, which leaves technical types unhappy with the lack of a good technical ladder of advancement. Highly affected by downturns in aviation industry.
Advice to Senior Management – Work on creating a graded technical ladder for advancement and salary increases.
