I worked at Hanger full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you are in aa good office, it is wonderful. You work as a team. You have meetings to discuss what is happening and how best to handle certain patients. People are supportive, helpful and cooperative.

    Cons

If you are in the wrong office, none of that takes place. You become an independent contractor with no feeling of unity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show up at the office and see how the office functions or doesn't.

I worked at Hanger part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Invest in employers to keep up with the latest changes within the O&P healthcare market. Many workers invest enthusiastically in meeting the goals of aiding patients.

    Cons

Opportunities to increase in position and personal growth limited and can be transferred to other offices any time. Sometimes feels more about meeting the monthly quota than supplying proper needs for patients.

I have been working at Hanger full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Hanger does have some advancements, I was offered to take on the role clinician role They are very flexible with your request specially having a family to take care of they become some what family

    Cons

Occasionally there's bonus but they will squeeze out their money out off you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to be more of an employee advocate, share interest in them (don't pretend to care) specially when they have been making the wheels move and are part of a very large machine.

I have been working at Hanger full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Innovative in establishing clinical care to patients and referral sources. Company keeps up with the changing health care market and is able to change and adapt.

    Cons

Levels of opportunity and advancement within the clinical environment are very difficult to come by. Upper management does not seem to be in touch with day to day issues that happen within a branch.

I have been working at Hanger full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The oportunity to do good things for the patients that require our services

    Cons

The challenging environment of healthcare reimbursement. Continual negativity in battling for reimbursement and not getting paid for the services we perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your compensation/reward program. It is undefined, unclear and counterproductive.

I have been working at Hanger full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Continuing education is an excellent program. Health benefits are fairly good. Great resource to get help professionally due to the size. This quality is often lacking in smaller companies.
The knowledge and experience of many professionals.

    Cons

Not much of a chance to advance unless your are related to those over you in management.
A laughable bonus program. The company has made it nearly impossible to achieve a bonus. The company expects a 10% increase in revenue each year, but raises are few and far between. Extremely poor compensation for demanding and time consuming "on call".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those who are making the money for the company. That would be the clinicians and OAs. It would be nice if the leadership actually had a background in the O & P business. All to often, employees who excel in their job never get the financial compensation to match their contribution to the company. Others who don't deserve it get promoted and probably should be fired (nepotism).

I have been working at Hanger full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Good Benefits
    Coworkers are generally friendly

    Cons

    Poor managment staff
    Unreasonable expectations
    Deceitful ladder climbers
    Little room for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should be provided with training on how to deal with employees and how to treat them with respect in the way they communicate with them - verbally and electronically.
Clear direction should be given for tasks because ambiguous requests are subject to interpretation and thus cannot be deemed "wrong" when not completed the way management wants them to be done.
Managers should be counseled on setting realistic timelines and goals.
The executive managment staff here micromanages their employees to the point of suffocation.

I have been working at Hanger full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security, great hours, higher pay when compared to similar jobs, and standard employee benefits.

    Cons

The management team is very unorganized. To their credit, they aren't given the necessary resources to succeed. Many employees are unprofessional, and show their emotions daily. As the result of state health plan cuts, business is not what it once was. As a result, the clinic is always understaffed, patients suffer greatly, and the environment is usually stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on patient care and less on meeting numbers. Eventually Medicaid will come back around. Provide employees with annual reviews and praise when they do a good job.
