    Pros

Good pay, challenging work, great new HQ building, good benefits

    Cons

Young leadership team that doesn't understand or have never worked in their current areas of focus. Work-life balance is sometimes difficult.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools

    Pros

Pto and the managers were really good about working with my school schedule. I also made a ton of money on commission

    Cons

Some coworkers and the short shifts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more professional. There was an inappropriate workplace romance between a manager and employee

    Pros

Tons of growth opportunities and room for advancement. Good work/life balance too.

    Cons

Sometimes it seems like the company is trying to change too much at one time. Their heads in the right place, but they don't think it all the way through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Testing is key to ANY new program or process rollout.

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good overall business model
Casual dress code (Jeans and shorts allowed!)
Even part time employees get benefits such as paid time off and 401k!
Management and coworkers, atleast in my store are friendly and easy to get along with.
Always something to do, no standing around and being bored.
The company likes to promote from within and encourages and makes it easy for employees to apply for promotions.
Stores close at a reasonable time. (9pm M-S and 6pm on Sundays)

    Cons

Sometimes having to go in to work real early in the morning or work till really late at night.
Some occasional overnights may be required but it's not too bad.
Stores tend to be in seedy parts of town.
    Micromanagement from corporate.
If you are not comfortable with heavy lifting then this is not the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Merchandise management procedures can be a little smoother but overall I enjoy working here

I have been working at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The environment at the store I worked at was good for a part time job. Benefits are an added benefit including PTO and the option to add into 401K.

    Cons

Hours can be hard to get as they will not allow enough to get benefits you will be looking at 15 to 25 depending on the week and store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer extra pay for employees working overnight.

I worked at Harbor Freight Tools part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun work environment, very laid back as long as you get your job done properly, great chances to make more money by selling replacement plans and memberships. Easy to move up in the company if you want to.

    Cons

Higher-ups don't understand the store environment and will put outrageous requirements, like giving more work with less time to do it in. One of the worst problems is that managers can't schedule more people if sales are low, but sales are low because there aren't enough cashiers or people working the floor to help customers. It's a never-ending cycle. Also, can be very busy and customers get annoying because it's usually middle-aged men in a tool store, so they already think they know everything and that you should be bowing down to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for more emphasis on customer service rather than just stocking the shelves.
