I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    decent pay and benefits,
    VERY flexible hours,
    Bonus Checks twice a year.

    Cons

total hours in departments are kept low, but superior service is demanded over competing companies. hard to do when there are not enough people sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more people on the front end. stop expecting Homeshop to work harder than a cashier at the same pay. Its a very hectic position.

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    The people are generally friendly
You definitely have a lot of work
I was fortunate to have a great assistant manager

    Cons

You don't have much say in what work you do
They almost always ask you to stay overtime
    They pay could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow more communication between the laborers and Corporate. I have heard a lot of really good ideas on how to improve things, but they never get anywhere because of this wall.

    I worked at Harris Teeter

    Pros

Respectable pay, good opportunities for advancement. If you manage to get full time the benefits are excellent for a grocery store.

    Cons

Every six months the management staff at a store completely changes. Not all at once, mind you, but there is so much flux with people moving from store to store that nothing remains constant for long.

I worked at Harris Teeter full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Job was exactly as described, very flexible scheduling and the culture was quite decent. As I was not looking for long term employment, not having employment advancement opportunities did not bother me. Overall a good company.

    Cons

Not much time given during the work hours for breaks, the work is very menial and unfulfilling and the pay is relatively low. However, for me this was all expected.

I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is good and is a good environment

    Cons

If you're a bagger there more than likely only 2 or 1 there a day, so if you work as one you will do all the work trash , carts and cleaning the bathroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give us a bonus and raise pay rate.

Former Employee - Harris Teeter Cashier in Arlington, VA

I worked at Harris Teeter part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Provided a substantially higher level of customer service toits customer base in the DC/VA area. High quality and high standard of product and goods consistently maintained.

    Cons

Often times, the position of the employee was diminished in favor of customer service and in keeping with a "customer is always right" doctrine. Some middle levels and upper levels of management were consistently shirking and outright breaking rules and standsrds regarding treatment of hourly employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Im general, wheb standards are set, it should be acknowledged as to whether these standards are universal or differ according to position. Employee bullying and defamation should not be tolerated.
