Pros – most faculty care about students
very diverse student body
many great programs available to students

Cons – Can't make copies on campus
No performance reviews for adjunct
Large percentage of students seem to not care
Email system is lame
Campus is not Mac friendly
Can't submit drops online

Advice to Senior Management – Treat adjuncts better. Most of your teachers are adjuncts (which is a bad thing), yet they don't get performance reviews nor do they get paid very well. Parking sucks and there is no office space for adjuncts.

Cons – top down administration support staff seem more focused on keeping jobs than helping teach students

Advice to Senior Management – on campus printing and copies would be awesome

Pros – Make a difference in the Salinas Community
Faculty care about the students
While students are often below average, most work hard and are trying to better their lives

Cons – Very political - union and administration can be very us vs. them
California budget crisis is having a very negative effect on salaries and departmental budgets
They purposely keep adjuncts below 60% time to avoid paying benefits
Few opportunities to move into full time faculty positions
Never know which classes are going to be offered or what your course load will be one semester to the next
No office space for adjunct instructors

Advice to Senior Management – Provide stability to your adjunct faculty by committing to a class schedule/course load from semester to semester. Offer incentives for furthering education - pay more to those with advanced degrees (Ph.D.).
