Benefits, benefits, benefits

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Harvard University full-time

ProsHarvard University's benefits are unparalleled. Full access to their facilities--including their libraries, gyms, and museums--makes any employee feel like a part of the academic experience, like a golden ticket has been handed to you. Growth (particularly academic growth) is encouraged, and many partake in their generous tuition remission program, which covers both Harvard courses AND non-Harvard courses. If you're looking to add a master's or professional certificate to your repertoire, there's no better place to be. Colleagues are intelligent, supportive, and motivated.

ConsGiven their emphasis on achievement and higher learning, it may be difficult to advance (into some roles) without a master's degree.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Former Employee)

I worked at Harvard University full-time for more than a year

ProsThe salary and benefits are competitive, and everything is taken care of efficiently. There is also plenty of room for engagement (academic and otherwise) in areas other than your specialty, since the school excels in every area.

ConsThe weather sucks. Public transportation is OK, but there are lots of place in Cambridge that are nice and not too accessible by public transportation.

Great place to work

Web Developer (Current Employee)
Boston, MA

I have been working at Harvard University full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGenerous benefits, interesting projects. It is important that you can work on the project independently from start to finish. I like the ability to take classes for free or very cheap. It provides opportunity to advance in your profession. Environment is great, people are friendly, educated. I also like the fact that I have a chance to interact with people who came from different parts of the world.

ConsSalaries may not be as high as in some commercial companies, but I consider this a trade-off for the less stressful environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementGood job.
