    Pros

    You can wear whatever you want? Discount of course...free parking.

    Cons

    Everyone is attracted to HauteLook now because they see "Nordstrom", but internally HL is a mess. Turnover is insane, there is no growth opportunity even though you're led to believe that in the interview process (among many other false promises), and everyone is paid SO far below market rate it's a joke. Everyone openly talks about how dissatisfied they are and that they are looking for new jobs, but no one in management or HR notices or cares. If you slack off and are incompetent, chances are you'll get promoted, while 30 intelligent employees will walk out the door in one week to better jobs with better pay, and their managers are left scratching their heads wondering why.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees and do something about all of the problems instead of thinking they are going to disappear. If you treat your employees like they are disposable, they'll leave. Earn the respect of your coworkers and direct reports by working hard to actually live up to the title and inflated compensation you're given. You can't blame your problems on being a "start-up" 8 years after your inception, 800 employees, and a Nordstrom acquisition later... take responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    With 10 years of customer service support you could say I've been around the block. Congratulations! Hautelook! You are by far the worst employers I have ever worked for. Management is so lazy, they constantly send you emails and instant messages to "push through" and to handle your calls and/or chats more efficiently aka FASTER. I can say this is the only place where a Supervisor has seen the boat sink and never attempted to help by hopping on and physically helping out. Training consists of videos with outdated procedures. The communication is laughable. The policies should basically not exist because everyone understands them differently. Quantity over quality is the only way to meet you quotas. You are expected to handle 10 chats/emails/calls per hour. People who take chats take 3 at a time, imagine that! 3 people complaining about how they received the wrong item, that their package was lost or that for the third time they have received the wrong order and they expect these chats to last less than 12 minutes. In order to be a perfect employee you must handle 16 plus contacts. NO WAY. They also have this tiny group they call Help Desk they are the worst little cluster of condescending human beings. This place just blew until it couldn't blow anymore.

    In this economy its good to have a job, and a discount at nordstrom doesn't hurt

    Cons

    The sales platform, the constant stupidity and nothing ever working right. management is absolutely useless and the pay is an insult for all the work and pressure they put on you. Management is a joke, they're all immature, its like being in school again, they play favorites and don't value those that work hard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire ADULTS! Immature children are in charge and it shows. Catty, gossiping, backstabbing, unprofessional, unable to properly communicate on an adult level. Most ridiculous place ever!

    Pros

    Casual dress code and formerly flexible hours

    Cons

    Pay is 25%-30% below market. They claim to be a startup after 6 years and act like employees are a dime a dozen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pointless meetings, 3 managers for every technically skilled worker, multiple solutions for every problem which is confusing, technical expertise and advice is pushed back or completely disregarded, the org chart has more chiefs than Indians, the IT Department hires from outside rather than promoting from within and the few who are promoted are promoted based on their ability to kiss ass rather than their technical expertise and accomplishments. They don't recognize true talent, or worse they are threatened by it and attempt to discount it.

    Pros

    Exciting, fast growing company with a lot of fun, energetic young people. Lots of opportunity for advancement. Central downtown location.

    Cons

    HR is heartless. Think Catbert the Evil Director of HR from Dilbert. Not really funny. They hire the best and the brightest to solve really tough problems, don't listen to them, then when the job is finally done, they lay them off and try to make it seem like their fault. Watch out!

    Start caring about your people and the bottom line will improve not the other way around. Read some management books: People are your greatest asset,

    Fast growing company with more stability than other flash sale sites like it
    Free cupcakes
    Normal 9-6 schedule

    Cons

    Salaries are not competitive with industry standards
    Promotions are based on personal relationships rather than merit
    Performance review process a joke
    Extremely high turnover means that the longer term employees are the least competent
    Young workforce means that employees are often inmature and inappropriate, without intervention from management or HR
    Very few opportunities for growth or development
    Very little vacation time- in order to have a vacation many employees take unpaid days
    Next to no variety - you'll be working on the same projects day in and day out

    Beef up your HR department to effectively recruit, retain and support higher quality talent
