    Pros

Descent benefits and time off. Sick and vacation are tied into one "PTO" bucket. 3% 401K match, could be better.

    Cons

Lack of training for new employees. Expected to figure things out on your own with little to no training. My group is extremely old school and frowns upon telecommuting even though we are salaried employees. Unrealistic expectations of new employees. Nobody seems to know their responsibilities let alone how to work with other groups. Very shocking as this is a highly regulated field. People don't seem to want to help, would rather focus on themselves.

    Advice to Management

Come into the 21st century and allow your salaried employees to work from home as needed. Help integrate different groups in an effort to work together. Upper management needs to have skip levels to ensure lower management is doing their job.

    Pros

People are helpful and friendly. Benefits are adequate -- similar to larger competitors.

    Cons

Management is not strategic, board is weak and company, for its size, is extremely top-heavy. They solve most budget problems by outsourcing and layoffs instead of strategically considering other ways to cut costs.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of vps and directors and staff up where the real work gets done -- at the bottom levels.

    Pros

Great place to work. Telecommute options and lots of opportunity to grow if your boss likes you. California jobs are better and the people are much nicer

    Cons

Silo departments and your director can stop you from getting promoted by telling HR not to offer you the promotion. Office politics is practice here......not a friendly Place to work.

    Advice to Management

Office politics and silo department needs to be addressed. Some Managers, Directors and Administrators abuse their authority without consequences. HR related issues take too long

    Pros

I enjoyed my time at Health Net. I learned a great deal about government contracts related to the military. The benefits are excellent.

    Cons

Employees have learned to do more with less due to lay offs in various departments. Not much room for advancement within the company structure.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more transparent and honest with the employees.
