I worked at Health Net full-time

    Pros

The people are great, work life balance is good.

    Cons

The company does not value IT and the infrastructure is dated and broken. Many hours of associates' time are wasted while waiting for the systems to be repaired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The companies who do not invest in their IT platforms will suffer competitvely in the future when other companies surge ahead with superior market offerings and data analytics.

I have been working at Health Net full-time

    Pros

The pay is usually very competitive with the other health insurance companies in the area. Usually people leave Health Net for a promotion with another health insurance company, but then come back to Health Net for the pay. Salaries are usually increased by 3% each year, depending on the quality of your work.

    Cons

Depending on the department you work in, it can be very stressful working conditions, working a lot of overtime (nights and weekends) and working with VERY stringent deadlines. It can be very difficult to move up within the company unless you don't mind moving to another department all together outside of your career goals/field. The company structures their departments in tiers and you can't move up to the next tier unless someone currently in the position leaves the company/department. You can feel pigeon-holed if you want to advance an actual career with the company.

    Pros

Good severance package. Very good, transparent communication about the decision to eliminate my division.

    Cons

Glass ceiling still exist. Needed to know someone to get a promotion. Although the outsourcing process was explained well, it was still a very stressful process and they couldnt have picked a worse time to move American jobs out of the country
