Great place to intern

Editorial Intern (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Hearst Corporation as an intern for less than a year

ProsMade lasting connections as an intern, senior editors willing to help a recent graduate out. Never felt overworked or undermined.

ConsWould have liked to write more

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great internship experience

Editorial Intern (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Hearst Corporation as an intern for less than a year

ProsI did very few administrative tasks and was never assigned busy work, which I did not expect from an internship at a massive corporation. The editors really take the time to work with you and they appreciate what you do for them. The staff is on the younger side but all very experience and qualified. The work environment is fun and competitive, and I looked forward to going to work everyday.

ConsUnpaid, hard to get noticed because the corporation is so large, but that's part of the business!

Advice to Senior ManagementIt would be great if interns were given opportunities to write more, since that is what many are looking to do.

Fashion Editorial Intern

Fashion Editorial Intern (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at Hearst Corporation as an intern for less than a year

ProsGot to rub elbows with some of the most important people in the fashion/media industry. Opportunity to learn a lot if you took the initiative. Felt helpful to the production of the magazine even if the work I did as an intern was considered "grunt" work.

ConsNot for someone who isn't willing to do "grunt" work, run errand, or start from the bottom. Long hours.

Advice to Senior ManagementHearst claims it has an internship "program", but I didn't experience any form of structure while I was there. Perhaps the program has improved since I left.

This is the company I am so proud to work for and a company that works hard for me, I have been there less than a year.

DME (Current Employee)
Buffalo, NY

I have been working at Hearst Corporation full-time for less than a year

ProsAbout 6 month ago, we attained Mike DeLuca as our, SVP at Hearst Digital Media Services & President at LocalEdge, since then our company has grown leaps and bounds by creating a new culture.

ConsOH, did I mention I just returned from a companywide meeting, all-inclusive four days, three nights in Port St. Lucie, Florida? Wait, that's not a con, lol, guess I don't have one...

Advice to Senior ManagementThe senior management staff that Mike DeLuca has put in place is an award winning group of individuals that is rocking the industry and other companies in our field are asking, “What is going on over there?”
