    I worked at Hearst Corporation

    Pros

Very friendly, and competitive salary and benefits package, 401k match was good as well. Company values their employees and this is obvious from the top down.

    Cons

Promotions were not a custom or usual topic for discussion for people in support role positions. Growing a career would probably require you to step out of this group.

I have been working at Hearst Corporation full-time

    Pros

Large private company that supports its people. Continued professional growth, many great benefits only a large company can provide, sense of stability and security. It is a very approachable organization at every level.

    Cons

Limited training opportunities and ability to move around the organizational units of which there are many. While I have seen more loyalty here than previous employers I think that would improve if there was opportunity to gain experience across the multi-faceted company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

One of the smartest and accessible senior management teams I have worked with and I hope that continues.

    Pros

the ability to make $$$ - if you are performing well, manager leaves you alone. Good group of people and lots of incentives to do well.

    Cons

office is dumpy, it is stressful, but the stress is a good thing in a sales job. you have to learn the ropes in order to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

sometimes praise is a good thing. it should always be whats next? sometimes you need to live in the now and acknowledge how hard people are working

I worked at Hearst Corporation as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The interns get real world experience at a publishing giant and everyone in my department was super nice and helpful. It was very social and all birthdays/weddings/babies were celebrated with a cake and small gathering in the conference room, which really helped with feeling like a team. The Hearst Tower in NY is a spectacular building and has a great cafeteria.

    Cons

Because different department interns are hired for fall, winter, summer and spring sessions, the job does not lead to a job offer after graduation. I actually applied for a job after graduation but Hearst wanted 1-2 years experience for a position in my department that was similar to what I had been doing. Also, the internship is nonpaid, which can be tough in an expensive city like NY.

I worked at Hearst Corporation as an intern

    Pros

Good benefits, nice people, amazing office

    Cons

HR team wasn't so nice to me - conflicting advices

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give chance to internationals and this company will grow a lot more - my team wanted to keep me badly. But, could not do so because of "company policies"

I have been working at Hearst Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

for such a a big corp, surprising willingness coming from the top down to experiment and innovate in terms of the digital strategy. always learning something new. flexibility with working at home. very smart, motivated people to learn from. constantly implementing the latest and greatest technologies. great benefits and salary. hard work and honesty wins respect. agile methodology works well in my department. good team energy, good mix of people.

    Cons

this doesn't really apply to me, but, a warning to others in the tech/IT areas - this is not a job for wallflowers. you're expected to do your homework and have an opinion and self-motivate to keep up to speed with latest ideas and innovations. it's more than hiding behind a computer screen, so not a job for the lazy or intellectually uninterested developer. if you don't know how to do something, you're expected to figure it out.
