    Pros

Great frontline caregivers. The most caring people you will meet. The nursing staff are great.

    Cons

Poor communication from administration down. It is difficult to make the jump from staff to leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Step outside your office.

I worked at Heartland Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Free holiday dinners, nice gift shop run by volunteers. Decorations are nice throughout the hospital. Massage chairs( but floor/surgery nurses, ha never have free moments)

    Cons

Team Leaders have their favorites and they do no wrong. Tasks are handed off to other nurses. False charting about being in pt room for rounds

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't continue to think nurses are a dime a dozen, show and respect the ones there. Also, don't push "the older ones" out the door or fine itty bitty mistakes to fire them. Team leaders and upper management are disgusting and poisonous!

I worked at Heartland Health part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Beautiful facility and great medical equipment.

    Cons

ER dept. has a serious attitude problem. The nurses 50% of them go through the motions and are not compassionate! ER are docs are a joke! Would prefer to hire entry level personal to keep operating budget down. Parent co. in TN. cares only about bottom line.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask yourself why is the reputation of this facility sub-standard. Take a closer look at some of your staff.

I have been working at Heartland Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ability to help people in need. If you're in a clinical position, many opportunities exist. They will help you obtain clinical education. Pay is not bad, but could be better to stay competitive.

    Cons

Tends to promote "Yes" people into management positions in which they have very little experience. Upper management style is mostly by intimidation. Definite hierarchy and pecking order...and often reminded. Information not passed down to rank & file staff. Lack of communication among departments and many are quick to blame others rather than be accountable. History of "eliminating positions" of loyal, long-term employees with great performance & track record. Many double standards established within work groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Too much to mention here!!!

    Pros

Work was alright compared to other places like this in Charleston.

    Cons

Upper management didn't know how to let others manage. Too many people fired to meet managements choices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Educate and let staff do their job.
