ProsHigher base pay then competitor beautiful decor health care 100%preventative is coverered.

ConsCommission is a starting on.5 max on 3% almost impossible to reach speaking from a elite that has great history of sales success

    Loved the people!

    Store Manager (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits are good, training is excellent, had the opportunity to work with some truly excellent people. Good performance is rewarded and if you desire moving into management, the path is pretty clear. It can be a very good company to get sales training and management experience but you have to work hard.

ConsWork/life balance is non existent. Work all holidays and weekends...it is retail. Depends on the store but generally, time off is not very generous since it is a sales environment and you pretty much need to be there constantly to hit targets.

If you are not a yes man your out regardless of how good you are

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsYou get to help people share important events in their lives.

ConsRetail work schedule for managers sucks they work you to death and never give a thank you they just suck you for more of your life. It use to be a company that took care of its employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpper management lives in a fairy tale land called Kansas City. They have no idea that other parts of the country are economically different.

OK atmosphere, but low end pay!!

    FT Sales (Former Employee)

Prostraining was overall very good. Professional surroundings, Manager didn't address any employee concerns, just kind of swept them under the rug .

Conslow pay, a lot of stealing sales, Sales would sometimes be taken from you even when you had proof of a client sheet.

Fun, but not a serious long term job.

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)

ProsLaid back atmosphere if working with the right managers and coworkers.

ConsLow pay if you are trying to support a family.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of aggressive employees that bring down the atmosphere. Keeping around the laid back team oriented people are worth it.

    Full time sales

Full Time Sales (Current Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsYou are hired with a base hourly rate with commission and bonas potentials monthly. Very competitive salary within the jewelry industry

ConsYour schedule every week is never the same. You must work retail mall hours which include most weekends, holidays and nights until 9:30 pm. Rarely did I work 9-530.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement rarely works weekend and holiday shifts. General office team in Kansas city never worked on holidays, weekends or nights except for an occasional shift at Christmas

If you are good at sales and patient, this is the job for you.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe inventory and prestige is absolutely fantastic. You get to see beautiful diamonds all day long and get to say you work in diamond sales. Also, if you easily get excited for people, this is perfect since all day long you see people who are in love and at happy moments in their life. Don't necessarily need work experience, just a good personality.

ConsIt can be difficult to hit sales goals, especially in the slow months. Also, if you don't like teamwork and sharing sales, this probably isn't the job for you.

As long as you conform to the ways of Helzberg, you will do just fine.

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Novi, MI

ProsThis company holds high ethical standards when it comes to how they conduct business. With so many jewelry stores resorting to dishonest practices in order to make money, it is a real pro that helzberg prohibits it. also offers benefits to fulltime employees, bereavement, and paid vacation after a year of employment.

ConsIt's a very corporate culture here; there is an extensive amount of minuscule rules that are strictly enforced when it comes to how to conduct business and do your job. Sales associates arent given the opportunity to have any real voice or impact on making changes. The hiring process is lengthy and the phone interview asks counter-intuitive questions that seemed to be quite invasive and irrelevant to determining one's present capacity to be a good employee.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
