    Technical Support (Tier 1)

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsAlways busy but I don't think they do enough to hire people.

ConsTuition Reimbursement is only available for salary workers and available though not guaranteed for children of TSM (Team Schein Members), just not hourly workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow benefits to be available to all workers, not only those you think who would not use them.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Company without a heart

Analyst-IT Developer (Current Employee) Melville, NY

    ProsGood dental plan.
    Some people are nice.

Cons1. Even it is 12 inch of snow out there, you have to show up to work. That is right. Even USPS does not deliver mail, you are asked to show up at this place.
    2. Management acts like they are open to suggestion, but don't believe it.
    3. If you have a veteran/professional or have years of experience, do not work here. They don't believe you. Management wants to be "scheined".
    4. Clock in and clock out. Are you kidding?
    5. If you are young, don't work here. Many old people here.

Advice to Senior ManagementNothing to say to them. I have tried.

    Mixed feelings

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSome great people to work with. Great name in the industry. Great teams at the branch levels. Great products and manufacturer relationships. Decent National Sales Meeting.

ConsVery outdated internal systems, bordering accient, make it hard to do the job. Fly by the seat of your pants upper management, sales people can get away with anything if they sell.. even just a little bit. Mircomanagement runs ramppant at corporate levels. Adding too many layers of management that mircomanage. No accountability for Sr management. Human resources has zero power to enforce Code of conduct and values

Advice to Senior ManagementHold sales people accountabile for the actions and ethics. Update old technology systems to make records, ordering, research, queries, etc; more timely.

Shallow pockets with a lot of expectations

    Field Sales Consultant (Current Employee)

ProsFlexible schedule, proactive training, some exclusive relationships with suprior products

ConsPoor compensation and expense reimbursement, conflicting management values, impossible to make make money with diminishing margins, saturating territories with reps which make it difficult to grow your own territory, offer unfilled promises of a lucrative career, encourage competition among the team which creates resentment and unethical behaviors

Advice to Senior ManagementStart offering some compensation for expenses related to this position. Times have changed- have successful reps that are currently in the field lead training initiatives. Start hiring experienced and professional reps instead of new grads that work cheap- your reputation is quickly tarnishing.

Think twice before joining this organization

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Melville, NY

ProsThe commitment to social responsibility is attractive to those who want to join an organization that cares about making a difference in the communities in which it operates.

ConsSenior management seems to reward longevity rather than real competence. I've witnessed those who had the audacity to have a creative thought ushered to the door rather than being recognized for thinking outside the box. The organization is not at all inclusive to newcomers.

Advice to Senior ManagementThose in management roles would do well to recognize talent and creativity rather than sticking to the status quo. Good people are hard to find - stop rewarding incompetence and start rewarding results.

Henry Schein needs to get out of the "mom & pop" mentality and back-up the Team Schein spirit

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Melville, NY

ProsMy immediate boss and team are great and we work well together. We support each other in every way

ConsLack of planning, lack of direction, lack of saying no when necessary...stagnant. They constantly say "Team Schein, everyone is equal...senior management and workers are definitely different.

Advice to Senior ManagementThink outside the box. Set standards and follow-through with them. Sometimes no is not a bad thing for the company. Plan, plan, plan...

    Looking for another job

    Credit (Current Employee)

ProsBenefits are excellent. People I work immediately with are wonderful.

ConsNo room for advancement. Very small pay increases. Management is a joke...very male chauvinist attitudes. Been there over 10 years and have 3 degrees and I am as far as I am going. The supervision doesn't even have college degrees, not even an A.S.

Advice to Senior ManagementWould they care about our feedback? I think not...

Sometimes can be a nightmare place to work in .....

    Service Tech/Install Tech (Current Employee)

Prosgreat benefits, company vehicle, steady work

Conslocal branch management, is horrible. Most of the management never worked in the field. Never turned a wrench. They have no technical abailty . They cannot relate to the everyday tasks of a tech. They sit behind a desk and dont relate to the outside world, and what it takes to get a job done.
Dispatch of work is from another state, through nextel's. Dispatch personel are horrible, again $8.00 an hr people with no techncal ability off the street answering phones. It is a nightmare to get things done sometimes...Meetings to schedule the next meeting ....You are a name and a number here.......

Advice to Senior Managementneeds to not hire from the outside, needs to promote from within. Branches needs a service manager between techs and management.....Needs more technical people who understand the business in management..

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
