    Pros

    Some great people to work with. Great name in the industry. Great teams at the branch levels. Great products and manufacturer relationships. Decent National Sales Meeting.

    Cons

    Very outdated internal systems, bordering accient, make it hard to do the job. Fly by the seat of your pants upper management, sales people can get away with anything if they sell.. even just a little bit. Mircomanagement runs ramppant at corporate levels. Adding too many layers of management that mircomanage. No accountability for Sr management. Human resources has zero power to enforce Code of conduct and values

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hold sales people accountabile for the actions and ethics. Update old technology systems to make records, ordering, research, queries, etc; more timely.

    Family atmosphere amongst the worker bees.

    Cons

    Provide their sales teams with old outdated equipment and software programs. Getting adequate equipment to perform the job is like pulling teeth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop pointing the finger and show some appreciation to the employees who actually interface with the customers.

    Stable employment. Great 401 match.

    Cons

    Management is undereducated
    The whole company operates in a silo. Too many upper management "grew up" at Henry Schein. They really need fresh faces from other industries and more ideas.

    Pros

    Left alone for the most part to do your job. Set your schedule.

    Cons

    Back stabbers. Only care about the bottom line. Canned sales reps even after told the company, "was solid."

    It feels a bit like the company runs like a mafia...

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, proactive training, some exclusive relationships with suprior products

    Cons

    Poor compensation and expense reimbursement, conflicting management values, impossible to make make money with diminishing margins, saturating territories with reps which make it difficult to grow your own territory, offer unfilled promises of a lucrative career, encourage competition among the team which creates resentment and unethical behaviors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start offering some compensation for expenses related to this position. Times have changed- have successful reps that are currently in the field lead training initiatives. Start hiring experienced and professional reps instead of new grads that work cheap- your reputation is quickly tarnishing.

    I worked at Henry Schein

    Pros

    A place you can go and put in your 8 hours and go home and forget about it.

    Cons

    The 8 hours you spend there are unfullfilling, stressful, and unrewarding. You'll never get a promotion without threatening to quit and while you work your tail off to meet todays crisis plus do your day to day tasks the person next to you surfing the net and playing on Facebook will get a promotion because they threatened to quit. The management team doesn't do anything but attend meetings. It's virtually impossible to get information on what you are to be doing and what is going on and upper management's egos and insecurities make it impossible to voice your opinions on tasks without them getting highly defensive.

    I have been working at Henry Schein

    Pros

    The commitment to social responsibility is attractive to those who want to join an organization that cares about making a difference in the communities in which it operates.

    Cons

    Senior management seems to reward longevity rather than real competence. I've witnessed those who had the audacity to have a creative thought ushered to the door rather than being recognized for thinking outside the box. The organization is not at all inclusive to newcomers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Those in management roles would do well to recognize talent and creativity rather than sticking to the status quo. Good people are hard to find - stop rewarding incompetence and start rewarding results.

    Pros

    Benefits & salary - only for salaried employees. Friendly atmosphere amongst the workers. Clean work areas. Buildings are modern with many conviences.

    Cons

    You have tons of time off but never allowed to take it, then are told you will lose it. Management will not take employees suggestions and experience - they only want their ideas. The only way a person can get ahead is if you are a pet to upper management

    Open up and stop brown nosing to get further.

    My immediate boss and team are great and we work well together. We support each other in every way

    Cons

    Lack of planning, lack of direction, lack of saying no when necessary...stagnant. They constantly say "Team Schein, everyone is equal...senior management and workers are definitely different.

    Think outside the box. Set standards and follow-through with them. Sometimes no is not a bad thing for the company. Plan, plan, plan...
