Something is Lacking

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Herbalife

ProsThey have great skin care product and meal replacement items. Pretty good system and information for losing or gain weight.

Cons- Cult like culture
- Get push to the side if you are not really 100% in to it.
- Most supervisors lack real leadership skills.
- It's repetitive when it comes to supervisors just regurgitating information and not truly understanding what they are saying.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend some more time to actual know what you are trying to sell and don't just regurgitate information.

It's a job

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Herbalife full-time

ProsReasonable hours. Ok pay, not great but not insulting. Non-management people are hardworking, dedicated, and talented.

ConsUninformed and unorganized middle management. Little to no room for advancement, unless you happen to be friends with one of those managers. Company tends to be embroiled in controversy - google it for yourself.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house in the middle. But they'll never do it. Middle managers are dug in deep.

Very different from other companies. Odd & outdated business practices.

Manager (Current Employee)
Torrance, CA

I have been working at Herbalife full-time for more than 3 years

ProsVery international company with operations in 88 countries. Good exposure to other countries and cultures.

ConsLots and lots of uncompensated overtime which seems to be the criteria for promotions. Experience gained at Herbalife may not be easily transferrable because of the unique business model and outdated business practices. Quality of corporate staff is weak in comparison to other companies of similar size in the Los Angeles area.

Advice to Senior ManagementInternal systems and processes are very outdated compared to other companies in the Los Angeles area. HR department could be improved.

Waste of time.

Health Coach- Senior Consultant (Current Employee)
Santa Clarita, CA

I have been working at Herbalife part-time for more than a year

ProsYou will meet amazing people and lose weight.

ConsYou have to invest hours of work for a small amount of pay. The people that are successful in this company are either sponsored or have a huge social network to pull from...I.e. they are an athlete or famous. They will try to convince you that working for Herbalife has tons of perks like residual income, paid vacation, employee discounts.... There is a small % of health coaches that qualify for these perks, but the majority will never get there. If you have bills that need a stable income to get paid, this isn't for you. They'll make you feel bad for not making them a priority when all you want is to put food on the table.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Herbalife full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGood Office space, some really nice people, good benefits

ConsVery political environment, Technically the Company is not very fast paces, still stays at older or not very useful technologies.
Performance Reviews not transparent. Management relies on politics rather than individual's briliance

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on individuals in your team and not on politics.

Disillusioning

Manager (Former Employee)
Torrance, CA

I worked at Herbalife

Pros- Casual atmosphere
- Free gym onsite
- Free products
- Attitude towards wellness
- Organic cafe
- A lot of autonomy
- Company is strong and growing

Cons- HR is too political and powerful
- Tone from the top is that the distributors are important, the employees are not
- Very political
- Promotions & Raises are sub-par - get your money when you get in the door as that's your only opportunity to do so
- Benefits are not competitive
- Very segmented organization, everyone works in silos.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being afraid of HR, make your own decisions. If you involved your staff in decisions that affect them they'll be more invested in the organization.

Need more excitement with Company.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a better nich to seperate our product from the competition.
