Current Employee – been working at Herman Miller full-time for more than a year
Pros – The people at Herman Miller are amazing, I have never worked for a company that values their employees as much as Herman Miller does. The flexibility allows employees that work, life, balance that is important to all of us.
Cons – For me it's the location I have a 70 mile round trip commute, but with that being said, my job does allow for me to work from a home office.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Herman Miller full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – One of very few companies that lives to be 100+ years old. Leadership that is agile, even when it comes to tough decisions. A centuries old institution that isn't afraid to reinvent itself.
Cons – The industry as a whole has suffered of late. Herman Miller has had to make some tough choices in order to stay in the game. Now, as business grows, departments find themselves short staffed and are finding management afraid to add necessary people.
Advice to Senior Management – When charting the course for the future, don't forget about our past, and what has made us great.

Current Employee – been working at Herman Miller
Pros – They truly value people and are one the the classiest organizations I have ever worked for. They manufacture very high quality, however the furniture industry has unfortunately become extremely "commoditized".
Cons – They are going through a very difficult transition period trying to figure out where to go and what to do next. They are very "bean counter" driven at this point with not a single executive with a sales background and they are unfortunately losing their identity.
Advice to Senior Management – Get sales leader on the Executive Leadership team. You are about to have a major brain drain - especially with your very disgruntled Strategic Account Management Team.

Former Employee – worked at Herman Miller
Pros – They really care about their employees. I worked in the warehouse as a material handler and assembly line work, so not the most glorious positions, but when it would get hot out in the summer they made sure we got plenty of water and Gatorade. They would even give us an extra break. I also think the quality of the furniture we made was high. We were expected to work long and hard, but with a high standard of quality. I also appreciate their sustainable efforts. They recycle and reuse a lot. They are working to make sure nothing goes to a landfill. They also make their products the same way they run their plants, with green design in mind.
Cons – Assembly line work is very physical and exhausting, but that is typically true no matter where you work.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen more to the people on the line or in the warehouse. They often have good ideas about how to be more efficient, safe, or accurate. Often instead you let management change things around or get someone outside the line.
