Ability to be trained in all aspects of the business... As well as gain experience in those aspects

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsExperience....working with people, from the crew to the customers.

ConsCall offs, late arrivals for shifts, managers not putting in the time they should, not enough respect for having a good work ethic.

Advice to Senior ManagementRequire your managers to actually clock in and out.....and pay more attention to the "little people" who are busting their backs to keep your stores running.

    Was great, culture changed

Human Resources Manager (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsLots of opportunities to change roles and travel

ConsBringing in leaders from the outside rather than promoting from within changed the culture in to a mini-Shell which was against the value of "Independent Spirit". It became a suffocating place to work

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Bittersweet

Sales Associate (Current Employee) Orlando, FL

ProsIt is always wonderful to know that you are part of really making some kid out there's christmas when the Hess Truck comes back each year. Additionally, the resource center has always been there to answer any questions I have.

ConsI had always anticipated that working for such a big name company would allow me to be paid justifiably or at least have a chance to move up in position.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think Merit based wage increases should be given as they were in the past, that there should be an official "Associate Trainer" position, and lastly that NO employee should be scheduled to work alone on a shift.

    Not many opportunities

Senior Sales Associate (Former Employee) Rochester, NY

ProsFlexible hours, college program, you meet some friendly people and not so friendly people, promotions, vacation pay after time

ConsLong hours, no breaks, no employee discounts, rude customers, no sick days, lost my vacation because a manager didn't want to include it into her store budget or have to find someone to cover shifts

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees a decent salary for the amount of work they do

    It is a paycheck

Store Manager (Current Employee) Tampa, FL

ProsGood pension, 401K will end though with the sale/spin off

ConsChaotic, disorganized. Promotion based on anything but merit. Not enough resources to operate the business at decent level.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook at what competitors are doing right. Stop coming up with programs that can only fail. New year, new idea that wastes money for no results.
