I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - Compensation at some levels start out very good
    - Coworkers are some of the best I've worked
    - First 2 levels of management show genuine interest in your progress and growth
    - Health and Medical Benefits are good
    -Nice office environments

    Cons

Due to some of the economical stresses in the pass HP has had a great deal of layoffs and while I understand the need for businesses to make a profit, the change in HP's culture over the last couple of years has placed a lot of stress and extra work on employees while taking away perks, decreasing salary's with little to no pay raises and limiting the work to life balances. Promotions are getting harder and harder to achieve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I understand the need for the changes to help with increasing profits and maintaining the company but work moral is lower than I've seen over the years maybe spend a little money on helping people find some happiness in their jobs. A person happy with they job will be a better employee.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I really loved the environment and people at Hewlett Packard, It was definitely my dream job so I thought. The executives were very nice and made you feel very welcome.

    Cons

The salary was very low for the position they hired me for, which was a Software Developer . With little training, I was eventually contracted out to one of their clients doing something completely different and working with the company Executives with no raise at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More training on the position the employee will work in is needed instead of the company history. Training on Outlook and other Windows products is desirable since they are used daily at the company and better pay would keep the turn around rate lower.

Very Good Technology Company, People are very good. HP is one of the most renowned brand in the world.

    Cons

Compensation is not good, no salary increase for long time. HP is not doing very good business. Many projects are failing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay, company car and training. House hold name recognition helps when setting new appts with clients.

    Cons

Customer Service is horrible. Customers leave and take their business to Resellers or worse, to the competition. Too much overlap with employees tripping over each other chasing the same business opportunities. No mentoring or team support for remote workers. Colleagues are too stressed out trying to retire quotas as well as completing QBR's (Quarterly Business Reviews) with managers instead of being available to assist new employees. Management says they care but don't really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure new employees working remotely have resources available to support the onboarding process to ensure success.

    Pros

    The place is very quiet.

    Cons

You don't going to learn new techniques and the things that you learn in HP are really old.
If you want to be in the top of the new technologies, don't be hire for hp. work requires a lot of paperwork, very bureaucratic.

    Pros

currently working from home, manager is hands off - no micro managing, allowed to get the job done as i see fit in order to meet objectives.

    Cons

drama, lack of processes, lack of foresight beyond the next quarter, constant change (not the good kind)

I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company that cares for employees, you have flexible time, sites are great with coffee, rest areas, gym, etc.

    Cons

Training was slow, I was stuck with a really easy job, I talked to my manager lots of time and did not get more responsabilities, I felt stuck and boared. Too many changes in CEO made it difficult for me to change jobs within the company and finally had to change companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place career grow path for employees. Too much time free is not that good.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time for more than a year

    Pros

No micro-managing, paid time off (for full time employees, contractors are excluded), decent benefits, somewhat flexible.

    Cons

Low pay for top quality, or what is expected of the field technicians. There is definite emphasis on customer care but very little in the way of compensation for surpassing the expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More recognition for going above and beyond would help as an incentive for better customer relations.
